Notepad++ macOS v1.0.4
Dockable, detachable side panels
Every side panel — Document Map, Document List, Folder as Workspace, Function List, Git, Clipboard History, Character Panel, Project Panel, plus any panel registered by a plugin — can now be popped out of the side rail into its own floating utility window. Click the pop-out icon in a panel's title bar and the content detaches instantly with no loss of state (scroll position, selection, tree expansion, search filters all persist). Click the dock-back button in the floating window's title bar to return it to the side rail. Each popped window remembers its size and position per panel type across launches, and Cmd+= / Cmd+- / Cmd+0 zoom continues to work while the window is key.
Visual improvements
- Unified side-panel chrome with pixel-identical title bars, close buttons, and pop-out affordances across every built-in and plugin-contributed panel.
- Refreshed toolbar artwork and light/dark mode parity for the pop-out / dock-in glyphs.
- Hover-state polish on the shared panel chrome — buttons no longer get stuck in their "highlighted" visual after a pop/dock transition.
- Toolbar overflow (the
>>chevron that appears when the window is narrow) now reliably lists and fires every plugin-contributed button.
Plugin ecosystem
Two new plugins ship with the v1.0.4 companion plugin index:
-
JSON Viewer (v1.0.0, new) — tree-view navigator, formatter, compressor, validator, and JSON-path copier with live search, sub-300 ms render for multi-MB files, a settings dialog matching the Windows layout, and full dockable/pop-out behavior.
-
Markdown Panel (v1.0.1) — adds an in-document search field with live highlighting, a print button that honors whichever window currently hosts the preview, and participates in the new dockable/pop-out system.
All existing ports (ComparePlus, XmlNavigator, nppURLPlugin, ElasticTabstops, and the rest — 19 plugins in total) have been re-verified: every plugin's download hash in the plugin index matches its release artifact on GitHub. Plugins Admin installs and updates cleanly.
Compatibility
- macOS 11.0 or later.
- Universal binary: arm64 + x86_64.
- Signed with Developer ID Application (Andrey Letov) and Apple-notarized.
