v4.1.62: a new Kobo finishes its first sync, and Kobo places land past kepubify blank pages

A Kobo being set up for the first time finishes its first sync, and Kobo places land on the right page in books kepubify added a blank page to.

docker pull ghcr.io/new-usemame/calibre-web-nextgen:v4.1.62

Before you upgrade

  • No database or config changes in this release.
  • The KOReader plugin is unchanged and stays at 4.1.57.

Fixed

  • A Kobo being set up for the first time syncs instead of stopping after it connects. Current Kobo firmware asks the server to add the device before its first library sync, and CWNG answered "not found", so the Kobo cancelled the sync. CWNG now answers it, and the device's token refresh, the same way it answers the device login. Reported by @orcofthedarkness (Discussion #2781); the same fix landed in Calibre-Web Automated as 93d5b985d (CWA #1476).
  • A Kobo opens at the web reader's or KOReader's page in books where kepubify added a blank title page. The Kobo showed the new percentage but opened at its own older page, because that blank page has no counterpart in the EPUB. It is now left out when places are matched, in both directions. @sgreadly found the cause and tested the fix on their Kobo (#2804).
  • KOSync apps that don't ask for percentage positions, such as JustRead, get the Kobo's or web reader's place again. CWNG now sends them the exact position whenever it can work one out for the app's copy of the book. Reported by @lukerajah (#2783).
  • A book not yet downloaded to a KOReader device carries its Calibre tags. The stand-in EPUB now lists each tag, and a tag change makes devices fetch it again on their next sync. Reported by @adayag (#2792).
  • Calibre user plugin registration works again. Since v4.1.44, with CWA_CALIBRE_USER_PLUGINS=true, new plugins were saved where ingest doesn't look, so a plugin like DeACSM never ran. They are registered correctly on the next start. If you registered plugins before v4.1.44 and added another since, register the newer one once with the calibre-customize -a command in the README. Reported and fixed by @satwell (#2798).

Changed

  • The Kobo sync summary line says when Share my place held a reading position back, and why (share_place mode=... withheld box_off=N own_newer=N). Reported by @lukerajah (#2783).
  • With logging at DEBUG, each Kobo sync names the place it sent and why an exact place was held back, and each Kobo download says whether it counts as holding the current KEPUB. Asked for by @sgreadly (#2804).
