v4.1.47 — Covers stay cached, conversions say they finished, fixes for French/Italian pages and NFS metadata

A small follow-up to v4.1.46: covers really stay cached now, finished conversions say so, buttons work again in French and Italian, metadata edits reach book files on NFS shares, and lookup mode is one tap away.

docker pull ghcr.io/new-usemame/calibre-web-nextgen:v4.1.47

Upgrading

No database changes, no new settings and no new dependencies. The KOReader plugin is unchanged and stays at 4.1.46.

Changed

  • Open a book without saving progress from the book page. In the New UI it is now a button (glasses icon) next to Read now, and the "Progress is not being saved" notice no longer covers the reader controls. Thanks @darkmatterpelican and @Zackssmith (#2223).
  • Slovak is fully translated again, including book sources, reading states, reviews, reader fonts and the statistics pages. Contributed by @misko903.

Fixed

  • Covers stay in the browser cache between visits (#2386). With "Remember me" on, the login cookie was rewritten on every response, so browsers downloaded every cover again on each visit. The cookie now only changes when the session does. Thanks @Dirk71 for testing v4.1.46 and reporting that it hadn't helped.
  • A finished conversion says it finished (#1110). Converting from the book page's Files section shows "EPUB is ready" (or the converter's error) and adds the new format without a refresh, and the server log records each successful conversion. Thanks @auspex.
  • Buttons work on pages whose translation contains an apostrophe. In French and Italian the Hardcover review buttons, the EPUB Fixer, cancelling scheduled tasks and saving a shelf's order did nothing. Thanks @lguerard (#2503).
  • Metadata edits are embedded into book files on NFS shares with root squash (#2518). The metadata enforcer now runs as the app user, and a calibredb failure logs calibredb's own error. Books edited while this was failing are repaired by saving them again or by running "Enforce All" from the admin page. Reported and fixed by @sgreadly.
  • Log lines are no longer lost when a log rotation fails partway on Python 3.13.16 and later.
