v0.14.1 - Clearer download and notification errors & yt-dlp update

v0.14.1 - October 29, 2026

Bug Fixes: 🐛

  • Upgrade To TMDB is in the General section of a profile — it sat in the Subtitle section with Delete Replaced File and Replace Unknown Videos; the three settings are now the last settings of General, where the docs describe them.

  • A folder that refuses the file is reported as a folder problem — a download that reached the media folder and could not write there was reported as a failed download, and the task tried two more videos before it gave up; Trailarr now stops at the first refused write, and the failing download names the folder and the fix (the owner and permissions of the folder, and the PUID and PGID of the container). A read-only mount and a full disk are reported the same way.

  • A failing download shows the reason yt-dlp gave — the attempt record stored only "Trailarr could not download the trailer", so the pending view could not show the classified reason, such as the sign-in request; the reason travels with the error now.

  • The image refresh no longer prints a cache warning — the task scheduler runs each job on its own event loop, and the async cache on the images folder helper cleared itself and warned on every run; the helper now uses a plain cache, and the async-lru package is removed.

  • Remove Silence works on a trailer that starts with silence — ffmpeg writes a whole second without a decimal point, for example silence_start: 0, and Trailarr could not read it; the silence detection stopped with an error, and the trailer kept the silence at its end. Trailarr now reads whole seconds too. Thanks @kris-anderson for finding the cause and the fix! (#724, #725)

  • Remove Silence works on a trailer with a long description — ffmpeg cuts a long metadata line, such as the YouTube description that Embed Metadata writes into the file, and the cut can split a character in two; Trailarr read the output of ffmpeg as strict UTF-8, so the silence detection stopped with an error. Trailarr now replaces a broken character and reads the rest. Thanks @kris-anderson! (#725)

Other Changes: ⚙️

  • A failed notification says why — the log warning and the error of the Test button name the reason the service gave, such as error=404, instead of only pointing at the Apprise URL — see Notifications.

  • Dependency updates — Pillow moves to 13.0.0, which takes ten security fixes for the image decoders (#711). Brotli moves to 1.2.1, which fixes a critical out-of-bounds write in its decoder (CVE-2026-111497). Apprise moves to 2.0.1, the first release of Apprise v2, and Trailarr adds format=markdown to a Discord URL that has none, so the Test message keeps its rich embed (#698). yt-dlp moves to 2026.10.21, which adds the tv_samsung client to its default YouTube clients (#722). FastAPI moves to 0.162.0 (#723), the task scheduler quiv to 1.4.0 (#715), and Alembic to 1.20.1 (#720). Angular moves to 22.2.4, and the build tool vite moves to 8.3.5.
