DeepSeek keeps restore points so an edited long chat answers about 50x sooner (#639), --parallel reads prompts
a piece at a time (#587), faster prompts on Strix Halo and less memory on Windows, and the loop guard never cuts a
tool call.

  • DeepSeek: editing the last message of a long chat gives the first token about 50x sooner (#639, thanks @needmorevram):
the engine now keeps restore points in a conversation (the start of the last user message, a point near the
prompt's tail, the end of the system prompt and tools), so a chat edited at its end or a request that went away
mid-read no longer reads the whole conversation again. On a 20K-token chat on our 3 V100s the first token after an
edit came in 0.3 s instead of 18 s. A long cold prompt now takes a slightly different (equally valid) path
through the last tokens, so its exact words can differ from v1.1.36 on long chats, as they already do after any
cache hit; MAYA_DS4_RESTORE_POINTS=0 turns the points off.
  • DeepSeek --parallel is faster and DeepSeek can answer with log-probabilities (#639): a step's attention for all
its requests runs in one launch (up to ~8% more total speed at four conversations; with DSpark 2 requests together
    +7% and 4 requests +8-12% on our 3 V100s; one request +4%); logprobs / top_logprobs work on the OpenAI API;
faster IQ1/IQ2 GPU kernels (the persistent form is on by default for compute capability 8.0 and up) and AVX-512
    CPU rows; IQ4_NL experts; a RAM expert store (--ssd-cache, opt-in); --pack-info, --version, --profile-run
and tools/ds4/concurrent_check.py (conversations at once must not see each other's state). Every exactness
check (together vs alone, --multi-check) came out bit for bit. We fixed its Windows and AMD builds and kept the
RAM copy of the CPU lane's experts on AMD APUs.
  • Web UI follow-ups (#632, thanks @needmorevram): on a phone the chats slide in beside the page and push it aside,
and Saved opens as a bottom sheet; the thinking chip opens a thick bar with a segment per level; the Models page
can delete a model (and its downloaded files if asked, never a file another model runs from), delete the running
model after a switch, list the files in the models folders that no model uses, and sets more DeepSeek and
MiniMax engine options; the Monitor shows the peak decode speed since Maya started.
  • The loop guard never cuts inside a tool call: repeated identical tool calls stay whole and are all delivered; a
loop inside a single call only gets the repetition penalty.
  • Open WebUI streaming (#605): the stream is at most 64 tokens behind the model (a block the model copies from its
own draft streams as it is written, where it used to go silent for 10-20 s and then arrive in a burst); the guard
closes the thinking far more rarely (more copies are needed inside the thinking, the first two loops only get the
penalty, the output is never stopped while still thinking, and a stop before any answer says so in one line instead
of ending empty); a client's max_tokens above 1024 no longer shortens the thinking budget; and MiniMax's second
thinking block after an answer part or tool call is shown as thinking.
  • DeepSeek --tp 3: new opt-in DS4_TP_SHARES gives each tensor-parallel member its own share of a group's expert
FFN (for example 2,3,4), so a member that also holds the DSpark drafter and has less free VRAM can hold a smaller
part and the other members use their room; unset changes nothing (#591, thanks @NenadSteric).
  • DeepSeek: a client that sends the same tools in a different order (an MCP hub's server order, plugins registered
late) no longer makes the engine read the whole conversation again; the tools keep their first-seen order, as on
the other models. In our test a reordered request went from 15.7 s to 0.3 s (#625, thanks @SeriousRising).
  • DeepSeek --parallel: prompts are read a piece at a time on an event-driven scheduler, so answers keep writing
and short questions no longer wait behind a long read. A mixed four-agent run's first token came 16% sooner on
average and 1.4x sooner at the 95th percentile on our 3 V100s, total time unchanged (#587, thanks @mrsirg97-rgb).
  • DeepSeek: a recent-slot fill that fails no longer publishes its slot, so a failed copy can never be used as an
expert's weights; the expert is read over the RAM lane instead (#646, thanks @handmade0octopus).
  • DeepSeek prompts faster on Strix Halo (#643, @mrsirg97-rgb): on gfx1151 the prompt's routed experts now go through the
    fused int8 experts GLM already uses (IQ1_M, IQ2_XXS, IQ2_XS, IQ2_S, IQ3_XXS, IQ3_S, IQ4_XS gate/up; where a layer's
formats are not covered the old path stays): prompt speed up ~8% at 2K and 8K on Maya-S, decode unchanged, perplexity
unchanged (the exact words of a greedy answer can differ, as the prompt's experts now use int8 activations); Maya-XS does not use it. MAYA_DS4_PREFILL_FUSED=0 turns it off.
  • DeepSeek on Windows: the one-GPU decode path for NVIDIA (#567, @TheSmokeDev): the single-GPU path that reads streamed
experts in place now runs on Windows too, with the experts' copies pinned layer by layer as far as Windows allows
(MAYA_DS4_PIN_BY_NEED=0 turns that off). Measured by the author on an RTX 3090.
  • DeepSeek on Windows: far less memory held by the experts in the files (#588, @handmade0octopus): the copied source pages
leave the process's working set as soon as they are copied, and the in-place experts the CPU lane reads are trimmed back
to the standby list past a ceiling (MAYA_DS4_INPLACE_TRIM_GB, default 6): the peak working set on a 32 GB Halo box fell
by 42% on Maya-S and the lowest free RAM went from about 1-3 GB to about 9-10 GB, decode unchanged, prompts ~2% slower.
