github mw00/project-maya v1.1.27

DeepSeek decodes up to twice as fast on PCs whose RAM holds its experts, GLM reads whole videos, and fixes for a
Windows server that froze on the first picture and for DeepSeek's calibration.

  • DeepSeek decode where the RAM holds the experts: --mmap-experts auto (the default) now copies a GGUF's CPU-lane
    experts into RAM when all of them fit with room to spare, instead of reading them from the model's files at every
    token. Reported on #339 and #441: +22% on four V100s with 504 GB, about 2x on a 20 GB card with 255 GB, +23% on four
    RTX 3090s with 126 GB; +23% on three V100s here. With less RAM nothing changes (a part copied was measured slower);
    --mmap-experts on keeps them in the files.
  • GLM reads whole videos (#248, @kabachuha): send a video like a picture (OpenAI video_url, Anthropic video);
    its frames, 4 a second, go through the picture encoder. Needs ffmpeg and ffprobe on the PC (Linux: sudo apt install ffmpeg; Windows: winget install Gyan.FFmpeg). Only real video files reach ffmpeg (MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, AVI), and a
    video longer than MAYA_VIDEO_MAX_FRAMES frames (240, a minute) is refused before it is decoded.
  • Windows: the server froze on the first picture (#444, @DikiyLifter): the thread that watches the starting program
    held stdin's lock in a blocking read, and the first picture's import numpy waited on it forever. The pipe is now
    polled. Every version since v1.1.18 was affected.
  • GLM decode on Volta (#459, @merbanan): the decode's sparse attention on the V100's tensor cores - its attention
    ~4x faster, decode a few percent. MAYA_GLM_MLA_V70=0 turns it off.
  • DeepSeek calibration tests the CPU-lane thread counts whenever the lane has threads, fewer than every CPU first
    (#433, @talisp: one GPU went from 15 to 41 tok/s with fewer threads, and --calibrate had skipped the test).
  • Fixes: with MAYA_DS4_TP_GGUF_UNEVEN the busy experts' buffers are sized for the widest layer, so a 2-GPU tensor
    parallel no longer fails on the first request (#446, @pepuscz; #439); the busy experts' FP16 path takes only the
    experts already in VRAM; IQ1_M experts on the CPU lane up to 14x faster, the same results to the bit (#452, @Whamp);
    DeepSeek GGUFs with IQ2_XS experts (from #357, @OscarSheng), Q5_K dense weights or IQ4_NL Engram tables load, and
    an Engram table in a format the engine cannot read stops the load with a message instead of crashing.

Update: the dashboard's About > Update, or git pull, then ./setup.sh (Windows: START-MAYA.bat) - it recompiles only what changed; the model is not downloaded again.
