A while ago I watched sdrtop running on some other people's computer in a YouTube video, and it wasn't a pretty sight. On a steady FM station everything looked fine, but as soon as the signal came and went the walkie-talkie, a digital burst Wi-Fi the panels flickered and jumped around the screen. On my own terminal I simply stopped noticing. So this release is largely concerned with making it calm.
The meters now behave like those in real meters. The S-meter jumps up on reception, trails off slowly and holds the maximum for a second, and the values change 4 times a second, so that they can be read. The panels retain their shapes without a signal, so that nothing can fluctuate. Between bursts the last meter is held and indicates for how long it was held, the adjacent-channel bars fall back smoothly instead of disappearing, and the MPX trace is smooth. Along the way it turned out that the quiet intervals between bursts were counted as signal, hence some bars still flashed red. They are omitted now.

Wi-Fi also gets its first view. The new channel survey traverses all channels 1-13 and reports how busy they are as a function of time (rather than the number of networks, as in the first survey), including how much of that is Wi-Fi traffic and what type. Once it can uniquely identify the channels, it names the least busy one. It requires a radio capable of 20 Msps, such as a HackRF.
