- Added: HDR mode "Tone Map HDR to Display Peak": keeps HDR output but rolls off highlights above the display's peak, for monitors and laptops that do not tone map themselves. The target is "HDR Target Peak", or the peak Windows reports for the display when set to 0 (#6).
- Added: A new settings UI with themes.
- Added: Translations for the settings menu (Weblate). Language choice under General > Themes.
- Added: A quality preset (Fast / Default / High Quality) in the settings header, or "Measure this PC" to pick the best settings for the display's GPU, including active shaders, Adaptive Sharpen and Smooth Motion.
- Added: A Reset All button in the settings header.
- Added: Shaders: RAVU Zoom R3 and RAVU Zoom AR R3.
- Added: XySubFilter support.
- Added: RTX Video HDR for SDR videos (NVIDIA RTX, Windows HDR on).
- Added: Smooth Motion setting "Present in Advance" (Scaling > Filters), like madVR's "present several frames in advance": 1 to 4 refreshes, or Automatic. Automatic keeps the lowest latency (one refresh) and only presents further ahead after pictures actually miss their refresh, then returns to one after a quiet minute.
- Added: Smooth Motion setting "Oversample Threshold" (Scaling > Filters): shows a whole picture instead of a blend when the other picture would cover only a small share of a refresh, for fewer double edges on motion. 0 keeps the previous behaviour.
- Added: Menu languages: German and Chinese (Simplified).
- Added: Profiles. Videos from folders you choose can get their own settings, for example a different upscaler for anime. A profile can change any setting in the menu.
• Click "+" on the Profiles page to create a profile, then add one or more folders. Videos in these folders use the profile, all other videos use your normal settings ("Default").
• At the top of the menu, next to Quality, choose which profile you want to change. All pages then change that profile.
• A profile only remembers what you change in it. Everything else comes from Default.
• Ctrl+J shows which profile a video uses.
• Choosing the display whose normal settings the menu shows is on the Profiles page. - Added: Display settings (Color > Calibration): "Display Gamut" maps colours into a wide-gamut display's native gamut (BT.709, SMPTE C, EBU / PAL, BT.2020, DCI-P3 (DCI white) or P3-D65 (Display P3)) so they do not look oversaturated. "Display Gamma" tells the renderer how the display decodes the signal (Auto, 1.80 to 2.80 in steps of 0.05, or BT.1886 with the display's measured contrast) and is used when HDR is tone mapped to SDR. "SDR Gamma Processing" can make SDR look like a chosen gamma (1.80 to 2.80 in steps of 0.05) on that display; when it is off, SDR stays as before.
- Added: Switch "Same Settings on All Displays" (Profiles > Default): copies the chosen display's settings to all displays and keeps them equal while on. Turned off, every display keeps those settings and can be changed alone again.
- Fixed: Dolby Vision Profile 7 on UHD Blu-ray: the enhancement layer is now used when playing a BDMV
.m2tsclip or.mplsplaylist, which carry no Dolby Vision descriptor (#5). - Fixed: The Dolby Vision status for Profile 7 discs that are flagged as FEL but add no residual: they are now shown as MEL processing instead of "FEL not processed" (#5).
- Fixed: A washed-out picture with "Prefer 16-bit Float" output when Windows HDR is off: SDR white was written above the display's white level and clipped.
- Fixed: End credits being detected as black bars and cropped.
- Fixed: Smooth Motion slowly falling behind during long playback: render peaks above 100 % in the statistics, blocking presents and dropped frames that only went away after pausing. The audio clock and the display drift apart, and surplus pictures piled up in the display queue. Smooth Motion now presents every picture on its own display refresh and leaves out or repeats a single interpolated picture when the clocks drift.
- Fixed: SSIM Downscaler, AMD CAS, Anti-Ringing and PixelClipper being skipped with "Prefer 16-bit Float" output ("output-stage shaders bypassed for linear scRGB"). They run during scaling, before the output conversion, and now work the same as with 10-bit output.
- Fixed: Two settings menu icons shown as empty boxes on Windows 10 (#10). The sidebar now uses icons that every Windows 10 and 11 version has, with new icons for Processing, Scaling and Shaders.
- Fixed: SSimDownscaler oversharpening with visible ringing, especially at strong downscaling: it now uses igv's original shader instead of the PlayKit variant and downscales in gamma light as recommended for mpv. Mitchell works best as the base downscaler.
- Fixed: Double edges on moving objects in a paused picture with Smooth Motion: paused and redrawn pictures now show the current frame instead of the last blend of two frames.
- Fixed: The menu not following a Chinese Windows display language (zh-CN and similar now find the Simplified Chinese translation).
- Fixed: The "Allowed Modes" description and the list of display modes under it staying in English in translated menus.
- Fixed: The Ctrl+J statistics dropping frames: updating the overlay stalled rendering for about 14 ms four times a second.
- Fixed: Text fields changing their font while typing.
- Smaller download (about 16 MB instead of 20 MB): FFmpeg is now built with only what Dolby Vision processing needs (HEVC decoding and MKV/MP4/TS reading).
- Clearer Ctrl+J statistics: grouped into Display, Video, Processing and Performance with aligned columns, and colour for render load, drops and Dolby Vision. Render time is now shown against the time available per picture, and the box no longer changes size while the numbers change.
- Quality selector shows "Measured" after a measurement and "Custom" as soon as any setting changes. "Custom" is always the last entry and brings back your own settings after you tried a preset.
- The player stays usable while the settings menu is open: pause, seek or switch to fullscreen and compare settings live. The menu closes itself when the player opens another file or closes, and opening it again brings the open menu forward.
- "Render peak 5s" in Ctrl+J is now coloured only when pictures were actually lost; a slow picture the display queue absorbed shows as "absorbed by queue". In the Drops row only counts above zero are coloured.
- Settings menu buttons and text fields use the same font size as the choice boxes.
- Cancel in the settings menu now also restores profiles: their settings, folders, displays and names, and profiles added or deleted.
- Choice lists in the settings menu are only as wide as their text.
- Ctrl+J shows "Default" instead of "none" when a video uses no profile.
- Shader settings that only know 0 or 1 (e.g. SHARP in AiUpscale) are now on/off switches instead of number fields.
- Shaders are switched on only in the shader list; the extra "Enabled" switch in each shader's settings is gone. Reset Shader now resets only its settings.
- Updated FFmpeg to the latest LAV-maintained version (4 November 2026), including newer HEVC decoding and fixes for Dolby Vision metadata and RPU parsing.
- Updated libplacebo with fixes made after version 7.387.0: more accurate colour conversion for PQ, HLG and the black level, ICC profiles without a brightness value, and a Smooth Motion queue fix.
- Settings menu: the tabs no longer run into the Reset buttons in translated menus, there is more space and a thin line below the top bar, even spacing between the buttons at the top, narrower choice lists, and the search box no longer shows the Ctrl+F hint.
