VictoriaLogs windowed search is opt-in. Enable it in the source form or
provisioning file to use streamed progress, newest-first pages, and window retries.
Added
- Opt-in VictoriaLogs windowed search returns partial results newest first,
with Load older, Stop, and individual window skip and retry controls (#116).
Stream selection narrows searches without changing the query text. - Background window counts provide totals, histogram data, and count coverage.
An exhaustive first page builds its histogram from returned rows instead.
Retry failed counts in one action without recounting completed windows. - VictoriaLogs source forms and provisioning expose window concurrency,
schema and sidebar lookbacks, sidebar value limits, and histogram visibility.
Changed
- Windowed pages use a timestamp boundary to limit full-row sorting while
preserving timestamp ties and identical duplicate logs. Rerun existing
searches after upgrading because the cursor format changed. - Optimizer-enabled schema discovery defaults to five minutes instead of
24 hours. Setschema_lookback_secondshigher if rare fields are missing.
Fixed
- A short page caused by an incorrect VictoriaLogs timestamp boundary no
longer silently ends the window. Logchef rereads the full window before
reporting completion. - Successful window retries restore search completion when no gaps remain.
Standard query and histogram endpoints validate stream filters consistently
and reject them for sources other than VictoriaLogs.
See the windowed-search guide for settings, provisioning, and pagination limits.
