Five games rebuilt after a crash sweep: Super Smash Bros. 1.1.6, GoldenEye 007 1.1.6, Mario Kart 64 1.1.7, Diddy Kong Racing 1.1.6 and Harvest Moon 64 1.0.3. The other seven games are unchanged from 1.4.1.
Nine of the games ran under memory checkers (a build that reports any read or write outside its variable) over attract modes, menus, levels, courses, multiplayer and results screens. What they found:
- Super Smash Bros.: no more crash on the results screen after a battle with a tie for a place.
- GoldenEye 007: three writes past the end of a variable fixed (Bond's movement on every step, a prop's collision outline, the game's own text copy).
- Mario Kart 64: the track sections are looked up for the four real cameras only. The first line of
data/console.logsays 1.1.7. - Diddy Kong Racing: the lens flare no longer reads past its own data (no change on screen).
- Harvest Moon 64: a negative number turned into a colour or a position now wraps as on the N64 instead of becoming 0.
data/console.lognames the release (it said 1.0.0).
Save states (RESUME) from the previous version of these five games may not load: they are kept aside as .rejected. Your in-game saves carry over.
To update, unzip the new game zips (or the All Game Pack) over the old ones.
