Gander 2.3 shows a Word file in the pages Word ended it in, with night mode, sorts and filters your folders, and opens presentations it used to stop on.
Gander is on Google Play, signed with the same key as these releases.
Word
- A Word file shows its pages where Word ended them, rather than as one long page, with the page number in each footer and the page counter and Go to page that a PDF has. A file saved by WPS Office, Google Docs or LibreOffice keeps no record of its pages, so it shows as before. Thanks @BenjaminSk-04 for #47.
- Lines sit as far apart as Word sets them, and each of Word's fonts is drawn in one of the phone's own at the same width, so a page holds what it held in Word.
- Night mode works in Word files too: the page goes black and the text light, colours keep their hue, and photographs stay as they were.
Folders
- Sort and filter the files in a folder you added, from its menu. Sort by orders them by name, date or size, either way round, and Filter shows only the kinds of file you tick. Thanks @usernamebiney, who built both in #42.
Presentations
- A presentation opens even when Gander can't draw everything in it. A chart, picture or shape it can't read used to stop the whole file; now that one thing is left out, the rest is drawn, and a box marks what is missing. Doughnut and radar charts and EMF and WMF pictures, which used to leave an unexplained blank, get the same box. Thanks @rabindra789 for #48, and @xMohnad for two decks.
Install
Gander-2.3.apk runs on every phone. The app ships no native libraries, so there is no architecture to choose.
Viewing PDFs needs Android System WebView 125 or newer (May 2024), Word documents 80 and Markdown files 92. Any phone still receiving WebView updates is well past all three.
