Gander 2.1 keeps a track playing with the screen off, opens presentations saved from Google Slides, and shows a large spreadsheet at once.
Gander is on Google Play, signed with the same key as these releases.
Audio
- A track keeps playing when the screen goes off, with play and pause on the lock screen. Leaving Gander still stops it, and a call or unplugged headphones pause it. No permission is added. Thanks @Nthanhnhan265 for #38.
- A track or video that fails partway through goes on from where it stopped, instead of showing a page saying Gander doesn't recognize its format.
Slides
- Presentations saved from Google Slides open, and so do slides with a drawing made of several outlines (#44).
- Slides keep their straight lines and line breaks, words stay whole when a line wraps, titles that a deck's design makes bold are bold, and text that isn't bold is no longer drawn hairline-thin.
Documents and sheets
- A large spreadsheet shows its first rows at once and draws the rest as you scroll. Search still finds a match in any row.
- A CSV saved as UTF-8 keeps its letters. Thanks @mitry for #37.
- A Word document with a tab in subscript or superscript text no longer shows an error over the page, and footnotes marked in superscript are numbered once (#43).
- Verilog, SystemVerilog and VHDL files open as text.
Home screen and PDFs
- A recent file or folder is removed by swiping it aside. Gander asks first, then offers Undo (#39).
- On a copy from GitHub, the menu starts with Switch to Google Play.
- In a PDF's night mode the bars and the space between pages are black, as the pages are.

Install
Gander-2.1.apk runs on every phone. The app ships no native libraries, so there is no architecture to choose.
Viewing PDFs needs Android System WebView 125 or newer (May 2024), Word documents 80 and Markdown files 92. Any phone still receiving WebView updates is well past all three.
