What's changed
-
Added an optional preprocess,
[Preprocess]indlssnr-amd.iniin the game folder. It changes the picture
the NR network is shown - exposure, display curve, contrast, saturation - and so how NR edits the picture.
It has two uses:- a personal look, in any game (it departs from the original look; the result may be better or worse);
- games that compute their exposure but do not hand it to the upscaler. In those, NR got a picture several
stops too dark and turned it green and grainy (007 First Light on theoptiscalerroute); its
Exposure = auto, an auto exposure after Unreal Engine's design, corrects that picture.
Off by default; when off, none of it runs.
-
On the
optiscalerroute the preprocess has no in-game menu. The in-game menu there is OptiScaler's own;
adding an entry to it would mean shipping a rebuilt OptiScaler, and this project uses wilsjo2's
OptiScaler-NR v0.8.4 release with patches
applied on top of it. Editdlssnr-amd.iniinstead (the route writes it on the game's first start): saved
changes take effect in the running game within about a second, so you can switch out of the game, edit,
and switch back. The ReShade routes also show the settings on the Add-ons page. -
Ctrl+F10 switches the preprocess on and off for the current run, with a short sound (two notes up = on,
down = off;Sound = 0turns it off). -
The earlier 007 First Light workarounds (lowering Paper white to about 0.06, or
[DlssNr] FinishedPicture=true)
are no longer recommended; use the preprocess instead.
Tips
- For a personal look in a game that gives its exposure properly,
autois not needed: use
Exposure = off(orfixedfor a small shift) and changeCurve,ContrastorSaturation. - The first time the preprocess is turned on, NR rebuilds; a second or two of frames go without NR.
