5.5.0 — Glamsterdam-ready
Major update since 5.4.11. EthPillar now supports ePBS migration and native ePBS installs on Sepolia, plus Charon DV, Web3Signer, and per-client Grafana dashboards.
ePBS / Gloas
- ePBS migration for Prysm, Lodestar, Teku, Lighthouse (v8.3.0+), Nimbus (v26.10.2+), and Caplin
- Native ePBS as an install-time builder mode on Sepolia (no MEV-Boost sidecar)
- Export/import of ePBS config between hosts
- MEV-Boost kept until the operator runs complete; prepare only stages relays
- Grandine and Charon remain unsupported for ePBS (clear errors)
Distributed validators & remote signing
- Obol Charon DV support, with CDVN migration helpers
- Web3Signer option so new installs can keep keys in a localhost signer
- Charon starts before the validator; TimeoutStartSec=infinity
Monitoring
- Per-client Prometheus scrape jobs and Grafana dashboards (Nethermind, Nimbus, and others)
- Erigon metrics pinned to port 6060 so scraping works
- Node Checker: QUIC inbound checks, Port Checker routing, client release URL hardening
CLI & operator tools
- Non-interactive
ethpillar status|start|stop|restart|check-updates|upgrade|logs - History expiry suggestions
- Checkpoint-sync Nimbus on first start
- Config compare against current defaults
Reliability
- Download verification (SHA-256 / GPG) for client binaries
- Recreate an unusable Python venv when pip can no longer be imported
- Prevent root-owned
.venvwrites from escalated menus (Node Checker) - Fix PyYAML always reported missing in
ensure_python_deps - Track known CI failures (Nimbus Hoodi buffer, Grandine version string, Caplin builder 503) instead of failing the nightly
- jemalloc for JVM clients (Besu, Teku)
- Deprecated client flags removed; bloXroute Max Profit relay replaced with Titan
Keymanager (from 5.4.11)
- Phase 1 local keystore API for Lighthouse, Nimbus, Lodestar, and Prysm remains included
