Codex Web GPT v3.0.2
V3 introduced the isolated DEV harness and full Codex MCP support for ChatGPT Pro. v3.0.1 added experimental cross-backend sub-agents and fixed the first tab, cancellation, notification, and rate-limit regressions. v3.0.2 keeps those features and adds an experimental way to carry much larger Codex contexts through ChatGPT Web.
v3.0.2
- Added Bigger Context (experimental) in Launcher Settings. Small turns still use one message; larger contexts are transported through two or three verified messages. When enabled, the advertised context and automatic compaction thresholds are tripled. Restart Codex after changing it.
- Warning: Bigger Context sends extra ChatGPT requests. It can substantially increase the risk of
Too many requestserrors or temporary account cooldowns. It is disabled by default, but may be useful for unusually large tasks. - Fixed large Markdown/JSON prompts being partially converted into rich code blocks by ChatGPT's editor during insertion. Prompt attachment is now atomic plain text and remains fail-closed behind exact readback.
- Fixed multipart staging so the final context part starts the real task without a redundant fourth message, uses the requested final effort, and cannot leave a half-committed transaction behind.
- Fixed completed response text disappearing or being misclassified during ChatGPT DOM finalization, including turns that continue through MCP tool calls.
- Improved first-login recovery by handling the one-time Temporary Chat onboarding and re-proving the authenticated Temporary Chat surface.
- Connector lookup now uses bounded retries,
@codexmatching is more robust, and exported launcher diagnostics remove local usernames and private ChatGPT sidebar titles.
V3 highlights
- The isolated DEV launcher has its own home, browser account, connector, tunnel, chats, diagnostics, CLI control, synthetic context fill, compaction, and simulated MCP actions without touching the production Codex port.
- ChatGPT Pro can run the same turn-bound Codex MCP harness as the other Web efforts.
- Experimental sub-agents support Native or Web parents spawning Web children, including a tested Web agent to Web sub-agent path.
- Bun 1.4.0 packages are built and smoke-tested on macOS, Windows, and Linux.
