Meet our New Year's release! Probably, this is the largest release over the past year, both in terms of the number of distributions (and this time there are as many as 26) and the number of added features. What's new in MiniOS? Now the build system is integrated into the system itself, it also replaces the old script for building modules. The old script was called minios-install, but it has been renamed minios-modules for compatibility with the build system. Its work has not changed for the user, just its functionality has been moved to the main library. New parameters have been added to the boot parameters, they allow you to customize the username, its password, root password, hostname and some other parameters before booting the system. The same parameters can be controlled using the minios.conf configuration file located in the etc folder. You can get more information on command line parameters here: https://github.com/crim50n/minios-live/wiki/Command-line-parameters-(cheatcodes)
Builds based on Debian 9 and 10 received a version with a working environment Fluxbox, similar to that used in Slax based on Debian 9. Minimum versions based on Debian 9 and 10 no longer use the network-manager, wicd has returned to the system. In later versions, it is not possible to use wicd, therefore the network-manager is available there in the minimum version. Later, we will conduct a survey to find out your preferences for the network manager.
In addition to the already traditional variants based on Debian 9, 10, 11 and Ubuntu 20.04, assemblies based on the Debian 12 test branch and based on Kali Rolling were added. Debian 12 is no less stable than the half-year Ubuntu branch, and allows you to try out all the new features before a new version of the distribution is released with long-term support. Due to the abandonment of GTK 2, the desktop manager slim was replaced in these distributions with LightDM. The version based on Ubuntu 20.04 now uses the 5.11 kernel.
