Version 5.6.1

This update contains enhancements and bug fixes to Version 5.6 and is recommended for all users. Please refer to the release notes for Version 5.6 for full updating information.

Metadata Enhancements

• Metadata: for backward compatibility in AirPlay 2 operation, Now Playing Information is now extracted from plist-packaged metadata and sent into the metadata pipe. Thanks to Tim Curtis for reporting the issue and testing the update.
• Two new metadata items are available: audio bitrate (abrt) and audio packet loss and retry statistics (arst). Generation of the tokens is controlled by a new setting, bitrate_stats_interval in the metadata section of the configuration file. When this is non-zero, the tokens are sent at the interval specified. The default is 0.0, which disables the sending of tokens. Thanks to Leon Roy for the PR.

Bug Fixes

• Now Playing Information has been restored to the MQTT interface. Thanks to Destruktor for reporting the issue and testing the fix.
• Fixed a SETUP failure on hosts with many network interfaces. Thanks to Niraj Yadav for reporting the issue and for the comprehensive fix.
• Fixed an overflow bug occurring after approximately 12.5 hours of continuous buffered audio play. Thanks to Michael Man for the report and the fix. The bug would disable synchronisation after that time; however, another as-yet-unresolved problem occurring at the same time actually stops play.

Documentation Update

• Added a document listing metadata tokens.
