Game Glance 3.4.0
Touch and mouse on Spotlight Home, and touch on the game page. Update from Quick Access → Game Glance → Updates.
-
Pick and open games by touch. On a handheld's touchscreen, tap a game in the row to select it and tap it again to
open its page, with the same transition as A. The Library card and the "back to start" preview take taps too. -
Swipe the row. The row follows your finger, one game per card width, and a flick glides on, slowing down smoothly.
A flick that runs into either end bounces off it, and flicking on from the Library card takes you back to the first game.
The art and colour catch up once you let go, as when you hold the d-pad. Past either end the row gives a little and
springs back. -
The tabs. Swipe up anywhere on Home for What's new, Friends and Recommended, tap a tab to switch, swipe a row
sideways, and swipe down to go back to your games. -
The game page's cards (Spotlight look): tap the info card for Steam's Game Info tab, or the HowLongToBeat card for
the game's page on howlongtobeat.com. With the controller, press Down from the Play row to select the cards and A to
open them (#24). -
The controller is unchanged, and it carries on from wherever your finger left off.
-
A mouse works too (docked, or a mouse on a handheld): click a game to select it and again to open it, drag as
with a finger, and scroll the wheel to move through the games, one card a notch (with the tabs up, the row under the
cursor). Whatever you can click lights up with a faint ring under the cursor, on Home and on the game page: the
games, the buttons, the tabs and the game page's cards. The wheel stops at the ends. A small arrow above the games
(shown only while you use the mouse) opens What's new and the other tabs, and brings you back up. -
HowLongToBeat "no match" shows at once. A game without a match no longer searches again on every visit after a
day: the result is kept and checked again in the background, and if HowLongToBeat has added the game since, its times
show the next time you open the game's page. -
A smoother way into a game's page. The open transition's glass moves already blurred and lands exactly on the
page's cards, with no last-moment shift of the card edges or their rings; the page's rings are now as fine as
Home's. The moving text is drawn at the page's own size, so it no longer stretches or pops as the page takes over,
and it settles exactly where the page puts it on any screen, docked to a TV and on ultrawide screens too. Games from
Unifideck open as seamlessly as Steam games: the Play label, the cloud button's ring and the Uninstall button land as
the page draws them. A game without a HowLongToBeat match opens with its card already filled. Coming back with B,
Home's buttons and cards stay blurred as they fade in. -
Play time for non-Steam games (#52). Games you added to Steam yourself, such as emulators and launchers, show
the play time Steam keeps for them, on Home, the game page and the screensaver, instead of 0 h. -
Dates you can't misread (#57). Last played and Added dates older than a week name the month ("Sep 18"), in your
Steam language's own order, with the year when it isn't this one. -
A lighter pre-load (#48). The automatic pre-load covers only the Unifideck games you have installed, not your
whole GOG, Epic and Battle.net libraries; a run where everything is already saved takes seconds instead of minutes;
and it waits while a game is running.
Touch and mouse navigation closes #26; more mouse polish for the desktop comes later.
