Game Glance 3.0.0
Spotlight Home grows up: a cleaner Home with a status bar, your game logos, your collections, Unifideck games that look
and feel like Steam's, and Steam's own words in your language. Coming from 2.1, this arrives through the updater:
Quick Access → Game Glance → Updates → Update to 3.0.0.
Highlights
- A clean Home. Just the game, its stats, Play and the row of games. What's new, Friends and Recommended wait one press
down. - Status bar with the clock, battery, connection and your online status, on Home and the game page.
- Game logo option: the game's logo in place of its name.
- Games row: your recent games, or one of your Steam collections, sorted the way you like.
- Unifideck games get the same page, buttons and info as Steam games.
- Steam's own words, in the language Steam runs in.
Home
- A cleaner Home. At rest, Home shows only the game, its eyebrow, stats, the Play row and the games row. The
What's new / Friends / Recommended tabs and their feed are one press down. - Status bar at the top right: clock, battery (a bolt while charging, red under 20%), Wi-Fi or wired, and a dot for
your own online status. It replaces Steam's top bar while you browse; Steam's bar comes back when you move up to it or
open a Steam menu, and the status bar fades while the feed is up. - Game logo (Quick Access, off by default): the logo instead of the name, on Home and the game page. Your custom
SteamGridDB logo comes first, then Steam's. Every logo is cropped to its artwork and sized to look about as heavy as
the others, so a wide logo and a compact one sit well together. Logos of the games next to the selection load ahead,
so L1/R1 show the next logo at once. A game without a logo keeps its name. - Games row (Quick Access): Recent Games (the default), or one of your collections: Favorites, Locally Installed Games
or your own. With a collection, Sort By offers Last Played, Alphabetical or Date Added to Library, and the line
above the title starts with the collection's name ("Backlog · Last Played · Yesterday"). If the collection is deleted
or empty, Home shows your recent games. - New to library: games Steam lists as new to your library (not played yet) join the recent games, marked
NEW, with "New to library · {when}" and an "Added to library" chip, as on Steam's own Home. - Up to 20 games, each with its real hero art, also when Steam's own recent list is shorter.
- Chips ready before you get there: HowLongToBeat and Achievements for every game in the row are fetched ahead and
kept (achievements for a week), so they show the moment you land on a game. - Hidden games stay hidden: a game you hid in Steam never shows in the row.
- Long titles use up to three lines. The Last played chip is gone (the line under the title already says it).
- Smoother navigation: L1/R1 put focus on Play from any button; holding the stick or D-pad steps through the games
at L1/R1's pace; Left/Right at either end of the buttons switches games; the game's colour changes on the step itself. - Tab sounds: L1/R1 on the What's new / Friends / Recommended tabs make Steam's own tab sound (and its "can't go"
sound at the first or last tab). - Family library: a game borrowed through Steam Families shows a pill beside the store pill, "Family Sharing · Grave"
with the owner's name, on Home and the game page (Steam's own line about it no longer squeezes in under Play). - Big screens (docked, TV): tighter side margins (the store pill ends under the status dot); the handheld is
unchanged. - What's new art is shown whole instead of cropped, and the featured news card fits its image.
Game page
- Clean look (Quick Access, off by default): one row at the bottom with Play, your stats and the store, over the full
art, without the description or HowLongToBeat cards. - Title first: the title or logo, then the "Last played" line under it, the same order as Home, sitting just above
the Play row. - On a big screen the Play row and cards sit lower, ending just above Steam's button bar instead of leaving a wide
empty band. - The status bar is here too, replacing Steam's top bar.
- The info card shows the size before Played.
- After Play on Home, the game page shows only the art under Steam's launch screen.
Unifideck games
- Same info as Steam games: play time and last played (from Unifideck, including GOG's play time across devices) and
the size, "Install size" until it is installed, in Unifideck's own language. - Same buttons: the Play row lines up with Steam's, the round buttons in Steam's order (controller, settings, cloud,
then the extras), and the D-pad steps through them in that order. - Cloud saves on Home: the same cloud button as for Steam games, with Unifideck's sync state.
- Fixed: B could do nothing on a Unifideck game page until you moved through the buttons.
Your language
Home and the game page now use Steam's own words, in the language Steam runs in: Play Time, Last Played, Achievements,
Today and Yesterday, the cloud states, Library, battery, friends' lines, New to library, the collection and sort names,
and more. Unifideck's labels come from Unifideck. Where Steam has no word for something, it stays in English: the
HowLongToBeat column names ("Main", "+ Extras", "100%") and the Quick Access panel.
Updates
As in 2.1: Quick Access → Game Glance → Updates shows the installed version, Check for updates asks GitHub right away,
and Game Glance checks quietly once a day by itself. Update to … hands the release to Decky, which asks to confirm,
checks the download and reloads Game Glance.
Settings
- New: Status bar (on by default), Game logo, Games row (and Sort By), Clean look (game page).
- Your other settings, the HowLongToBeat matches you set and cached game info carry over.
Good to know
- Spotlight Home must be on (Quick Access → Game Glance → Spotlight Home) for the new Home and game page.
- Logos and art Steam has not stored on the device yet load from Steam's image servers; offline, those games show their
name instead of a logo. - Tested on a ROG Xbox Ally running Bazzite, handheld and docked to a 1080p TV. It should work on a Steam Deck and other
SteamOS-like devices, but that has not been tested.
