Here's an incomplete list of all of the improvements that we’ll be shipping in Metabase 44. We'll go into more detail in our official release post; this list is just a brief summary for those of you helping us test out the release candidate. We also added a lot of new features in 1.44.
Expanded color palette
We've expanded the available chart colors from 8 colors to 24 colors.
Improved filtering in the query builder
We’ve reworked filtering to simplify it for most situations, and to make it easier to add and edit all your filters at once.
Polished UI across questions, dashboards, models, and collections
We've cleaned up the various options for questions, dashboards, and models, to make editing each item more intuitive and consistent (try editing a question title, for example). Each item also gets a nice info sidebar to display the item's description and editing history.
Transparent backgrounds for embedded charts
You can now embed charts with transparent backgrounds, giving you more control over their presentation in your apps.
Better collection and sidebar views
We polished up our collections and sidebar UI:
- You can now pin questions to collections without loading them (they won’t display the visualization).
- Metabase now displays placeholders while cards load in collections.
- Pinned SQL questions that require parameters won’t automatically load in collections.
- Blank collections get a more inviting screen.
Smarter database connection form
Metabase now gives better feedback to help you troubleshoot connection settings.
SSL for MongoDB
You can now use SSL certificates for MongoDB connections.
