This update makes MovieBox-TUI significantly faster, more stable, and perfectly cross-platform. We squashed major bugs, rebuilt the release pipeline, and made media players work flawlessly out of the box.
Major Features
- Theme Support: Choose from six built-in themes: Mocha, Latte, Macchiato, Frappe, Nord, and Tokyo Night.
- Smarter Player Detection (#34): Natively finds Flatpak (Bazzite/Steam Deck) and macOS players. Force custom players via env vars (e.g.,
MOVIEBOX_MPV_PATH). - Security: All releases are now rigorously tested and cryptographically signed directly on GitHub Actions.
Bug Fixes
- Terminal Crashes (#32): Fixed instant crashes when resizing Kitty/Foot terminals or switching providers.
- Image Smearing (#20): Fixed thumbnail distortion and smearing when scrolling in Sixel-supported terminals.
- Season Downloads (#31): Subtitles no longer fail to download for episodes 2+ when batch downloading whole seasons.
- MPV Fixes (#27): Fixed an issue where
mpvwould fail to securely launch or detach properly. - Cache & Installers: Fixed overlapping movie posters, stopped the Windows installer from accidentally deleting itself, and fixed Linux Homebrew binaries.
Under the Hood
- Massive Cleanup: Deleted over 1,000 lines of dead code and bloated dependencies (like
mimalloc), making the app lightning fast. - Better Manual: The README is entirely rewritten with clear installation commands and precise platform support matrices.
