What's New in v0.1.7
This update brings a major overhaul to the TUI's speed and reliability. It introduces a brand new content provider, completely asynchronous stream loading, and massive stability fixes for downloading and subtitle playback.
Major Features
- Integrated a highly reliable new upstream provider, bringing better 4K streaming, detailed metadata extraction, and improved language parsing.
- You can now seamlessly switch between different content providers on the fly by pressing
<Ctrl> + <p>directly from the UI. - Stream fetching is now fully asynchronous and backed by a new smart caching engine. The interface will no longer lock up when resolving streams, and clicking on episodes you've loaded before will now open them instantly.
Enhancements & Fixes
- Completely rebuilt the download engine's ID resolution. This fixes a critical bug where downloading seasons or episodes from certain providers would get permanently stuck on a loading screen.
- Overhauled how subtitles are passed to external players on macOS. The client now downloads a secure temporary subtitle file locally before launching the player, ensuring VLC and IINA load subtitles 100% of the time (#24).
- Patched an issue that was preventing episodes from foreign or dubbed language seasons from resolving and downloading correctly (#25).
- Fixed a bug where the UI would mistakenly display the exact same stream qualities multiple times in the selection menu (#23).
Platform & Experience
- Added a silent background worker that automatically manages and deletes old, unused cache files to protect your disk space without any manual intervention.
- The entire visual experience has been polished. The TUI now smartly detects your terminal environment to vertically center posters perfectly. Clunky animations have been replaced with a unified, clean dot-based loading indicator, and new modal overlays have been added for a smoother experience.
- Removed the old in-built auto-updater. The client will now gracefully notify you when a new version is available so you can update securely via the official installation scripts.
Note: To upgrade, simply run the installation script for your platform found in the README. It will safely update your existing binary to the latest version.
