What's New in v0.1.5
This is a substantial update focused on architectural performance, stability, and bringing full feature parity to Windows.
Core Performance & Architecture
- Event Loop & Async Optimization: Migrated the core event loop to use
crosstermEventStream and strictly offloaded heavy background tasks (image decoding, JSON parsing, disk I/O) to dedicated blocking threads. - Universal Windows Support: Eliminated the unbuffered system call floods that caused massive slowdowns on Windows CMD and PowerShell.
- Caching Layer: Implemented a comprehensive caching layer and stream pool management to cache episode resources and details.
New Features & Improvements
- Self-Updating: Introduced an automatic background self-updater and a dedicated startup screen.
- Download Reliability: Completely overhauled the downloader with explicit chunk verification, network timeouts, and robust error handling to prevent stalled or corrupt downloads. Download filenames are now properly sanitized across operating systems.
- Advanced Streaming Logic: Refactored episode fetching to support dynamic episode numbering and iterative page-based resource loading for massive TV series.
- TLS Backend Migration: Switched
reqwestandself_updatedependencies to userustlsinstead of OpenSSL, simplifying cross-platform compilation and removing system level dependency headaches.
UI & Polish
- Search & Aesthetics: Added intelligent search deduplication and cleaned up the search bar and dropdown layout for a much more flush, modern aesthetic.
- Documentation: The README has been entirely rewritten to be cleaner and more accurate, with updated screenshots and improved installation instructions.
Note: To upgrade, simply run the installation script for your platform from the README. It will safely overwrite your old binary.
