Compatibility
- Requires Obsidian 1.13.0 or later on desktop and mobile.
- Continues to use the v3 encryption format introduced in 3.0.0. Update Meld Encrypt on every device before saving encrypted content; older plugin versions cannot decrypt v3 content.
Improvements
- Settings now appear in Obsidian settings search, including password remembering and inline encryption options.
- External password files support vault-relative paths, including
../, on all platforms subject to filesystem permissions. Desktop also supports absolute paths. Password contents, including whitespace, are preserved. - Added installation steps and basic usage instructions to the README, and clarified the standalone Node recovery CLI's expected review warnings.
- Updated the Obsidian SDK, lint rules, and development dependencies, including security fixes.
- Added local release validation and optional desktop smoke checks in a disposable vault.
Fixes
- Fixed heading-link navigation in unlocked encrypted notes (#214).
- Prevented stale asynchronous file loads and decryptions from overwriting newer encrypted-note contents.
- Improved external password-file reads and fallback handling for missing, inaccessible, or empty files.
- Stopped detaching encrypted-note tabs during plugin unload; the explicit lock-and-close command remains available.
- Added explicit asynchronous error handling to the standalone recovery CLI.
Validation
- 391 automated tests passed.
- Typecheck, lint, recovery-bundle freshness, production build, and release artifact checks passed.
- Live desktop/mobile verification remains outstanding.
