Here it is, after one year of development troubles, The Coast Update is here (atleast, partially updated).
This release of reUpdate is released early on GitHub as pre-release and will be made fully public tomorrow incl. Gamebanana since it's 12AM right now in my timezone.
Featuring map changes up to d2_coast_05. Previous maps are also in progress of being recompiled with ficool2's Tools++ (VBSP++, VVIS++ and VRAD++). This reUpdate release has also been playtested in order to catch any bugs before releasing to the public.
reUpdate Canary notice
This is the canary version of reUpdate with 20th Anniversary map changes combined with some reUpdate exclusive enhancements. It is currently work in progress and remains unfinished. If you encounter any bug or issues, report them on Issues tab.
WARNING: If you have saved the game prior to installing map changes or saved the game with older version of reUpdate, you must start the game from "New Game" menu, or use "map" console command. Loading older saves are not recommended as it will crash or cause new entities or changes to not work/spawn correctly.
New:
Map changes:
- Recompiled several maps (background01-02, d1_trainstation01 up to d1_canals_05, d1_eli_01-02) using VBSP++, VVIS++ and VRAD++.
- Updated d2_coast_01 to d2_coast_05 with reUpdate + 20th Anniversary enhancements, these maps now have updated 3D Skybox and some minor lighting & fog changes. These maps also make use of VBSP++, VVIS++ and VRAD++.
- Map using VBSP++, VVIS++ and VRAD++ will have better optimization & performance and lighting improvements, including proper brush texture shadows without using blocklight texture, and improved baked ambient occlusion.
- And more on "Map changes - changelogs.txt"
Fixes:
- Fixed #11 - Missing button textures in d1_eli_02.
Removed
- Removed Hammer++ (no longer shipped alongside reUpdate in this version), for two reasons: unknown whether H++ require permissions to distribute but the Tools++ (VBSP++, VVIS++ and VRAD++) from same creator requires permissions to distribute, and H++ being discontinued in favor of a complete rewrite by it's creator (the latest version is still usable and will still work with any Source 2013 games and mods, including reUpdate.)

Installation
Full installation instructions is included in the "Installer + Extras" zip. A TL;DR is simply extract binaries & VPK assets file from reUpdate, paste it to "Half-Life 2 Update" folder, overwrite all when asked.
Next, select AO (baked ambient occlusion) or non-AO version of the map, then replace all .lmp and .bsp files inside "Half-Life 2 Update\hl2" folder.
Clean install of HL2: Update is required. Upgrading from older reUpdate verions has been dropped.
What's next for Canary 3.0 Part II?
Right after finishing Canary 3.0 Part I, I just noticed that d1_eli_02 in 20th Anniversary make changes that made "Two Points" achievement easier, due to deadline, this change isn't available in updated d1_eli_02 with Canary 3.0 Part I, and therefore this will only included in Canary 3.0 Part II.
As for Canary 3.0 Part II, there's no exact date when I gonna let this release, but since Canary 3.0 Part I has been delayed and have development issues, Canary 3.0 Part II is expected to be come out around late Q1/early Q2 2027, with possible delay. Hell even upcoming GTA 6 launch might delay this further.
