Windows 11 navigation motion
Page transitions were rebuilt using the timing and easing values from WinUI 3's own source. They replace the previous generic 250 ms slide.
- Main pages (navigation pane) use the Entrance transition: the current page fades out and the new page rises into place.
- Sub-pages (e.g. Tweaks → Security) use the Slide transition: the new page slides in from the right, and going back slides the other way.
- Microsoft Store product pages use the Drill-in transition: the page zooms in from 94% while fading in, and zooms back out when you go back.
- Breadcrumbs: clicking a parent page now animates as going back instead of forward.
- Navigation indicator: the selection pill stretches toward the new item and settles on it, like Windows 11's NavigationView, including when moving between the main and footer items.
- Slide directions are mirrored for right-to-left languages.
Window
- Double-clicking the title bar now maximizes or restores the window.
Microsoft Store
Installed apps
- The product page now detects whether an app is installed for your account:
- Open launches the app.
- Update appears when the selected ring has a newer version than the installed one.
- Uninstall (in the ⋯ menu) removes the app for your account only, after a confirmation.
- Search results show Open on hover for apps you already have installed.
- Errors when opening or uninstalling an app are shown as notifications, and screen readers announce a completed uninstall.
Downloads
- Pausing and resuming a download continues from where it stopped instead of starting over.
- Downloads interrupted by a network error now continue where they stopped when retried.
- Resumed files are checked against the Store's published hash, and a file that doesn't match is downloaded again.
- Cancelling a download now deletes its partially downloaded files.
- Redesigned progress card in the Windows 11 style: readable text, the percentage next to the status, a thin accent-colored progress bar, a yellow bar while paused, and an animated bar while preparing or installing.
Search & browsing
- The results grid adapts to the window width (up to 6 columns) and to your Windows text size, so cards are no longer cut off.
- App titles can wrap to two lines.
- When you open a result, its icon animates into the product page, and the page shows the app's title and icon right away while the rest loads.
- Smoother scrolling on product pages.
Fixed
- Pausing and resuming a download restarted it from 0%.
- Download progress text was nearly unreadable (white text on a light gray card).
- Search results showed Get for apps that were already installed.
- Old search results stayed on screen after leaving the Microsoft Store page, even though the search box was empty.
- The enlarged hover card stayed open after clicking into a product.
Under the hood
- Native lookups of the current user's installed apps, used for Open, Update and Uninstall.
- New tests for navigation motion, resumable downloads, installed-app handling and package version comparison.
