File thumbnails and video previews
File fields can now show system-generated thumbnails for images, videos, PDFs and other supported files across Eidos tables. Thumbnails preserve their proportions and use sizes suited to lists, Gallery covers and previews. Files without a thumbnail keep their file icon, and cached images remain available as you scroll.
Open a video preview to see its thumbnail, then press Play to start playback. Image previews read the actual image format, including images whose filename extension does not match their contents.
Browse Gallery as a photo album
Turn on Cover only in a Gallery View's settings to show covers without card backgrounds, borders, titles or extra fields. Gallery fits the complete image by default while preserving an existing fitting preference. Configured covers remain visible when their fields are hidden from card details.
Click a file cover to open its preview. Use the Left and Right arrow keys to browse files in the View's filtered and sorted order, and press Esc to close. The preview window stays the same size as you switch files, and videos wait for you to press Play.
Improvements
- File preview headers: File type and size appear beside the title instead of taking a separate row. Right-click the sidebar title to open the file menu, including the system file-manager action; Shift+F10 also opens the menu.
- Calendar performance: File-backed calendars share a scan across the displayed days, reducing repeated filesystem work when viewing a month.
Bug fixes
- File calendars: Creating a Calendar View in the file manager no longer fails with “virtual tables may not be indexed.”
