QualityLayer 12.2 adds Chat alongside the seven-step workflow and makes it easier to follow an agent, configure a run and review its changes.
- Chat in the App or your terminal. Work directly with Claude Code or Codex, then ask for a plan, artifacts, small implementation slices, checks or an independent review. Start the workflow when you need it; the same task keeps its history, and an App session receives the Discuss instructions without starting over.
- A readable Conversation view. Switch between Conversation and Terminal for the same session. Supported questions appear as clickable choices, reported task lists stay above the composer, and completed work folds away.
- A more flexible workflow. Shorter phase instructions ask about unresolved choices and use the agent's own tools. The Plan and final Review remain your approvals. Existing work can be qualified without inventing source changes or pictures of CLI output.
- Settings and run controls. Settings has its own navigation and search. Supported agents can have a saved default effort, with per-run overrides. Usage, sessions, permissions, editor, appearance and memory controls are easier to find.
- Changes throughout the workspace. Open the code workspace from the branch beside the task title, the compact More menu or task Files. Review files in Unified or Split view, comment on lines and mark files Viewed. Zero-file tasks show an explicit empty state.
- Artifacts and onboarding. Improved artifact loading, retry feedback and focused Plan previews. The expanded tour introduces the workflow first, followed by Chat, Artifacts, Team and Settings; existing profiles are offered it once.
- Review recovery fixes. Retired project-check commands no longer block a scoped recheck. Already-fixed rounds can continue without an artificial commit, unrelated untracked files do not hold Review, and scoped commit hooks can use installed dependencies in nested workspaces.
- Reporting and maintenance. The App's Report bug / idea flow previews issues for the public tracker. This release also includes dependency security updates, completed-record preservation and fixes for conversation updates and question delivery.
Update from the App or run qualitylayer update. An active Pilot Shell licence continues to cover both Pilot Shell and QualityLayer. Please report bugs, ideas and missing Pilot features through Report bug / idea; review the public preview and leave out private code, customer data and credentials.
