VitaRPS5 v4.2.2-beta.2

pre-release4 hours ago

Beta: this is a test build, not the stable release. It is a pre-release for testing and logging is turned on.
The log file is in ux0:data/vita-chiaki/ and is named like <number>_vitarps5-testing.log.
To report a problem, open a GitHub issue on this repository and attach the log.

What to test in this beta

  • Microphone (new). Turn it on in Settings > Controls > Microphone, which is off by default. Mute during play by tapping the mic button at the bottom centre of the screen, or by holding L + R + Select. You can hide that button with "Display mic button on-screen". Please check that people actually hear you: join a party chat with a friend, or play a game with voice chat, and tell us whether they heard you and how you sounded.
  • 720p and 1080p streams (new). Choose them in Settings > Video > Quality Preset. The Vita shrinks the bigger picture to its screen, so it looks sharper than 540p, especially text.
    • 720p works at 30 or 60 fps.
    • 1080p is experimental. It always runs at 30 fps, because the Vita can't decode 1080p any faster. It is also more sensitive to Wi-Fi hiccups, which show up as short freezes or smearing. If you see smearing, turn off "Motion during loss" in Settings > Advanced. For most games, 720p is the recommended choice.
    • New "Extreme (≈10 Mbps)" Latency Mode step, for strong home Wi-Fi.
  • Two-finger hold on the front screen keeps the touchpad click pressed until you lift a finger. Use it for long-press actions like the map in The Witcher 3 or Cyberpunk 2077.
  • Removed: the "Force 30 FPS Output" setting. Use FPS Target 30 instead.

When reporting, say which resolution, frame rate and Latency Mode you used, and attach the log.
