Tine Beta 0.8.0-beta.9

pre-release6 hours ago

One fix for the 0.8.0 stable candidate: typing no longer freezes on pages with many references (GH #746), a regression since 0.8.0-beta.1. Fixes described elsewhere as "fixed for Tine 0.9 (development)" are not in this Beta; they arrive with the first 0.9 Beta.

Fixed

  • Holding a key on a large graph no longer makes typing stall more and more. While you type, Tine saves the page about once a second, and after each save it refreshes the linked and unlinked references, page icons, block references and queries. When one refresh took longer than a second, the next one started before it finished, the refreshes piled up and competed with your typing. Now a refresh waits for the previous one to finish, and the saves made meanwhile are covered by one refresh afterwards, so the views still end up showing your latest text. Related to GH #746 (UI-GH746-REFRESH-ROUNDS-DO-NOT-PILE-UP).
  • Typing no longer freezes for a moment every second or two on a page with many unlinked or linked references. After each save, the references at the bottom of the page reload. With every reload, Tine also rebuilt the index behind the references filter, over every reference and all of its child blocks. It did that even with the section collapsed and the filter closed, which could take most of a second. Now the index is built only while you use the filter or its search. A reload also keeps the references on screen instead of showing "Loading…", and leaves unchanged rows alone instead of drawing them again. GH #746 (UI-GH746-REFERENCE-REFRESH-COST).

Download an installer for your platform below. Windows and Linux ship both x64 and ARM64 builds (match your CPU). Windows users who prefer no installer can grab the portable Tine-Beta_0.8.0-beta.9_x64-portable.zip for their architecture. Windows builds are currently unsigned, so Windows may show a warning on first launch. The macOS build is signed and notarized. On macOS, if Tine repeatedly asks to access Documents, see the workaround in the README.
