Important! On the first start after upgrading to version 2.3.0, Sideband will generate destination stamps for your LXMF address (and LXST as well, if you have voice calls enabled). This one-time process will require high CPU usage, and depending on your device, can take from a dozen or so seconds, to a couple of minutes. So make sure you upgrade when you can set aside a minute or two for this process, and not in the middle of a field excercise. This release brings all of the massive improvements from RNS 1.6.0, LXMF 1.3.0 and LXST 0.6.0 to Sideband. Performance and resource efficiency has been significantly improved, especially for older or low-end devices. Voice calls now also work smoothly even on old Android devices, all the way down to Android 8.1.
While this release has primarily focused on bringing all the backend optimizations from RNS, LXMF and LXST to Sideband, it also does include a bunch of tweaks, fixes and improvements to the interaction layer, with full desktop mode support on Android, where you can now use Sideband with an external mouse and keyboard, and even with the DeX device-as-trackpad option.
