MailFlow v4.0.1
Fixes for 4.0.0: the mailbox icon now saves when you edit an account, the Android app gets through first-run setup on Android 17, and AI actions read the whole email. Update when you can. Thanks to @Monkey7539 and @salmonumbrella, and to everyone who reported these.
Fixes
- Mailbox icons save when editing an account (#624). Picking an icon for an existing account and saving brought the color dot back; only adding an account kept it. New in 4.0.0, fixed.
- AI actions read the whole email (#633). Summarize and custom AI actions only ever saw the first 6,000 characters of an email, without saying so. They now get the whole email whenever it fits one AI request (32,000 characters). A longer one is cut at a paragraph or sentence break, the AI is told it is reading the beginning, and the result says it is based on the first part of the email.
- The composer's AI tools no longer lose the end of a long draft. Improve, Shorten and Fix grammar cut a draft, quoted text included, at 16,000 characters, and Apply replaces the whole draft with the result, so anything past that point was lost. Drafts up to 32,000 characters now go whole; a longer one gets a message instead.
- Conversations act on the right account (#607). Outside the unified inbox, archiving, deleting, moving, snoozing or marking a conversation as spam now acts only on the copies in the account you are viewing, as the list already did. When that leaves nothing to act on, a message says so instead of nothing happening.
- A stuck mail server connection is released sooner (#609). A connection whose server stopped answering held its slot for five minutes; it is now closed after 45 seconds without a reply, freeing the slot for new requests.
- Category tabs end where their mail does (#611). In the flat (non-threaded) list, a category tab's total counted the whole folder, so paging offered empty pages and "Load more" never went away.
- Two "Trash" folders (#623). When an account has both "Trash" and a "Deleted Items" or "Deleted Messages" folder another app created, and the server doesn't say which is the trash, both were shown as "Trash". Each now keeps its own name. Where deleted mail goes is unchanged; you can choose it under Settings → Accounts → Folder mappings.
- Search results stay put. The "Searching…" line no longer pushes the results down and back up while a new search runs, so a click lands on the result you aimed at.
- "Generating…" shows once (#618) in the AI result box, not twice.
Android app
- First-run setup works on Android 17 (#621). After entering the server address and tapping Continue, the app stayed on the setup screen with the button disabled until it was restarted. It now opens your server straight away.
- "Change host" works. On the "server unavailable" screen it did nothing, and after a reset the setup screen opened the server in the browser instead of the app and saved nothing until a restart. Both work now.
Upgrading
ghcr.io/maathimself/mailflow-backend:latest points at 4.0.1, published for amd64 and arm64. No database migrations and no configuration changes. The Android fixes need the new app from this release.
