MailFlow v3.6.0
A fix for Yahoo accounts that quietly lost read state, the .eml download reachable on desktop, five data-loss fixes, and a few defaults that change. Read Changed defaults before updating. Thanks to @Monkey7539 for the five mail-loss fixes and the settings fix, @prudenciooficial for the translation crash and first-visit language, @Hui-161 for tracking down the desktop .eml gap, @facundopignanelli for the System theme, @vansh-nagar for the sidebar change, and @Totonyus and @thecoffeebin for the Default sender request and follow-up.
Changed defaults
- Default sender now applies wherever you are (#417). When a Default sender is set, every new message starts from it, whichever account you are viewing. Replies and forwards still use the account the message arrived in. Leave the setting on "Last used account" to keep the old behavior.
- New System theme (#508). It follows your OS light/dark setting and switches live. Anyone without a saved theme now gets System; a theme you picked is unchanged.
- First visit opens in your browser's language (#512). The login screen uses the browser's language when MailFlow ships it, instead of always English. A language chosen in Settings still wins.
- Special folders at the top of the sidebar (#497, closes #427). On servers that nest Sent, Drafts, Trash, Junk and Archive under INBOX, those folders now show at the top level, as other clients show them. Their server paths are unchanged.
Fixed: Yahoo read state and unread counts
- Yahoo only tells an open connection about changes when the client sends it a command, so a connection MailFlow kept open went on seeing the mailbox as it was when it opened. Marking newly arrived mail as read silently never reached Yahoo, the unread badge could freeze at an old number, and sync could miss new mail.
- MailFlow now refreshes a reused connection before relying on it. This applies to every provider and costs one quick command, with no extra logins.
Fixed
- Download .eml on desktop (#504, #381). 3.5.9 put it only in the mobile More menu. It is now in the reading pane toolbar and the right-click menu.
- .eml and "Download all" failing on some subjects (#507). A subject with an emoji at the filename length limit made the download fail every time.
- Browser translation crashing the app (#511). Translating the page with Chrome or Edge broke MailFlow. The interface is now marked not to be translated, since MailFlow ships its own languages; plain-text messages can still be translated.
- Editing an account cleared its trusted Authentication-Results server (#506). Saving any account setting after a reload wiped it.
- Moving mail on servers without MOVE (#498). If the server refused the copy, the original was still deleted. It is now kept.
- Deleting a message twice (#500). A repeated delete could permanently remove it from Trash.
- Changing a draft's From account (#502). Saving could delete an unrelated message in the other account.
- Bcc on reopened drafts (#499). Reopening and saving a draft dropped its Bcc recipients. Migration 0061 adds the column that keeps them.
- Forwarded messages moved between folders (#501) keep their forwarded-from sender.
Upgrading
ghcr.io/maathimself/mailflow-backend:latest points at 3.6.0, published for amd64 and arm64. Migration 0061 runs automatically on first start. After updating, reload any open MailFlow tabs to get the new interface.
