HelixSR 3.1.0

HLX FSR 4 becomes an upscaler of its own, AMD's FSR 4 is back next to it, HLX DLSS works in Vulkan games, and the app gets a speed test.

Updated 2026-10-28: the download's setup builds HLX FSR 4 about 3x faster (about 7 minutes for the whole setup instead of 12 on a BC-250). Already set up with the first 3.1.0 download? Nothing to do: HelixSR is the same.

What's new

• HLX FSR 4 is its own upscaler. In HelixSR Scaler's list it has its own line next to AMD's FSR. On GPUs that have AMD's FSR 4 (RX 7000 / RX 9000), AMD's FSR 4 is listed again, with its FSR 4 preset and model choices.
• HLX FSR 4 is faster on AMD GPUs: a new prepass and post pass, same picture bit for bit. On GTX 16 cards it tries its INT8 path first.
• HLX DLSS in Vulkan games through HelixSR Scaler, like DirectX 11 games.
• GTX 10 (Pascal) on Windows: HLX DLSS's faster conversions are back (missing in 3.0.0).
• Setup:
  • It lists only games. Programs from Windows' installed apps and Steam shortcuts that aren't games (editors, tools) are no longer offered.
  • Enter now skips a game: type s (HelixSR Scaler) or f (FSR drop-in) for the games you want. Games you name yourself (dragged in, or a folder given to the setup) still install on Enter, and installed games still update on Enter.
• Games with anti-cheat are treated like any other game.
• HelixSR Desktop 1.3.0:
  • Speed test (top bar): times HLX FSR 4 (each of its versions), HLX DLSS and, on GPUs that have it, AMD's FSR 4 on your GPU, and checks which give the same picture. Press Copy results and paste them into an issue: it helps make HelixSR faster on your GPU. The speed test is based on the FSR 4.1.1 timing kit by zgauthier2000 (GPL-2.0-or-later).
  • The frame generation switch is gone: where HelixSR's frame generation is installed, the game's own DLSS Frame Generation setting switches it.

Install

• New: download HelixSR-3.1.0.zip, extract it, and run helixsr-setup.bat (Windows) or ./helixsr-setup.sh (Linux / Steam Deck). See README.md inside.
• From 3.0.0: extract 3.1.0 into a new folder and run its setup. For games that have HelixSR it asks Update?: press Enter.
• HelixSR Desktop: the app offers the update itself (Update the app), or download the installer below.

HelixSR Scaler 2.1.0 comes with the download (GPL-3.0, source: https://github.com/lonewolf0622/HelixSR-Scaler).
