Lokal 4.0 moves to a new engine (Electron 44), and adds quality and genre tools across the app.

Lokal is 100% local; the library, history, anything in database, or any info that is used for API's such as yt-dlp, LRCLIB, is NOT seen by us.

✨ New Features
- Quality in the Library. A Quality column shows each song's badge (Hi-res, Lossless, High, Low, Suspect), and a Quality filter sits next to Genre. Click a badge to open Audio Quality on that list. (#112)
- Now Playing opens when you start music, like Spotify: starting a song, album, playlist or mix opens the right panel. Skipping tracks or resuming doesn't reopen it after you close it, and you can turn it off in Settings → Appearance → Layout. (#112)
- Play a top genre from your profile. Click a genre in Top Genres to play its songs, most played first. (#103)
- Whole-month and whole-year recaps, even mid-month or mid-year. Click a month or year again to see its full recap, or the recap "so far" while it's still going. (#103)
- Smooth recap switches. Recaps fade in instead of cutting, the Month and Week rows open smoothly, and hovering a chip starts building its recap ahead of the click. (#104)
- Graphics settings. Settings → About now has a Hardware Acceleration switch and a Graphics Backend choice on Windows (Automatic / OpenGL / Direct3D 11 / Direct3D 9). (#109, #110)
🛠️ Fixes
- Windows: no more white flash when restoring the window from the taskbar. (#104, #107, #109, #110, #112)
- Recap badge only shows for a new recap you haven't opened, and each account has its own. (#104)
- Audio Quality: list rows no longer shift when you switch lists, the pills go from worst to best, and the player's quality badge opens its own list. (#112)
- Pages centered on wide windows. Home, Recap, Audio Quality and Profile are centered instead of hugging the left. (#111)
- Listening sessions show two per row with both sidebars open. (#105)
- Track lists: the Time header stays over the times at every width. (#112)

- Release banners are back, and releases list every change since the previous official version. (#106, #108, #113)
⚠️ Good to know
- Building from source or running the web server now needs Node.js 22.12 or newer (24 recommended).
- White flash on Windows: if it still appears on your PC, pick OpenGL in Settings → About → Graphics Backend.
- Your data carries over from 3.x. Nothing to do.
