2.12.0 lets Aurral play music it doesn't own, and fixes a long list of download, Library, and integration bugs found after 2.11.0. The app also has a new icon set.
What's new
- Add read-only folders in Settings > Library files. Aurral scans them into your Library and never changes, moves, or deletes their files. Their music plays, shows up in search and Discover, counts toward recommendations, and can be used by playlists and flows. Removing a folder takes its music out of the Library and leaves the files on disk. A Lidarr root folder works too, and its music stays in your Library after you turn Lidarr off.
- Albums credited to several artists now show on each credited artist's page, in the Library, and in Subsonic clients. No rescan needed.
- When Aurral can't match a file to MusicBrainz, it now links to a short guide on tagging the file with MusicBrainz Picard.
- New, lighter icons across navigation, menus, Settings, and the player.
Fixes worth noticing
- A large download queue no longer freezes Aurral and shows "Unable to connect to the Aurral backend".
- Library scans no longer merge a multi-artist release into its first artist or rename that artist.
- SABnzbd jobs use their category's priority, completed folders are removed after import, and playlist tracks from the same album share one Usenet download.
- Flow rotation keeps tracks you saved to other Navidrome playlists, without needing Report Real Path.
- One rejected Spotify request no longer disconnects Spotify.
- Deezer previews keep playing after 15 minutes.
- Clean up Library treats file names that differ only in case as one name, so it stops reporting duplicates that aren't there.
- Renamed download jobs keep their names after a restart, and Lidarr albums are no longer marked failed because of words in their titles.
- Discovery's Recently added shows only artists that are actually new, not artists who got another track or an upgrade.
- API keys are no longer sent along when a service redirects to another host.
- Old bookmarks to pages that no longer exist now open home instead of a blank page.
- The Aurral 3.0 readiness check is gone from Settings. 3.0 is deferred, so there's nothing to prepare for yet.
Things to try
- Add an existing music folder as a read-only folder and play something from it. In Docker, mount it with
:ro. - Open the page of an artist who shares an album with someone else and check that the album is there.
- With a big queue in Activity, open the Queue page and confirm it loads quickly.
