github linxiv-dev/linXiv v0.7.1
linXiv v0.7.1

Highlights

  • Web clipper. A new browser extension (Chromium and Firefox) saves the paper you're viewing straight into linXiv. It builds BibTeX from the page metadata, including the publication year, and opens the paper in the desktop app.
  • Drag and drop. Drop PDFs and other files onto the app window to import them.
  • Multi-select. Ctrl/Cmd-click and Shift-click to select papers. The library, project, and graph views now share one selection bar.
  • Full text for local papers. Locally imported papers are now indexed for full-text search, and search errors are shown instead of silently returning nothing.
  • Starter home feed. Pick some starter topics to fill your home feed on first run.

Import and recognition

  • Saving by DOI now also fetches the publisher's PDF when one is available.
  • More URLs are recognized as DOIs: APS, Atypon, IOP, Springer, and Nature.
  • The .lxproj import receipt lists any PDFs that were skipped.
  • BibTeX: full dates are parsed, and arXiv/local identity survives an export and re-import.
  • A %PDF file that PDFium can't parse is now rejected with a clear error.
  • Add Paper opens as a popover from the sidebar instead of taking you to another page.

Annotations and UI

  • Pick any annotation color, and give colors labels that show in the popup.
  • The graph view is faster: labels are shortened once, and only nodes that moved are redrawn each frame.

Sharing

  • People you share with as editors can now push their edits, and the app shows their role.

Fixes

  • Windows: PDF import no longer flashes console windows.
  • Linux: fixed a crash on exit by turning off Skia GPU paint threads.
  • The share node now shuts down off the main thread, so quitting is faster.
  • The Graph page reloads correctly when you switch backends.
  • Browser uploads now use base64 JSON, the same as the desktop app.
  • Fixed the missing favicon.
  • Schema compliance fixes.

Project

  • Tauri crates are aligned with their npm versions, and deep-link and opener are updated. MCP is updated to rmcp 2.1.
  • The HTTP API is now documented. There's a new docs section for linXiv projects and an updated Discord link.
  • The server logs tracing events to stderr in the app, dev, and headless modes.
  • Better test coverage across the API, stores, and theme. npm run build now typechecks test files.
  • Dependency bumps (rustls, hickory-resolver, serde_with, npm group, docker actions).
