github linxiv-dev/linXiv v0.6.0
linXiv v0.6.0

latest releases: v0.7.1, v0.7.0
one month ago

Highlights

  • linXiv is now licensed under Apache-2.0 with the consent of all contributors. We chose this because it will make it easier for lab groups and individuals adopting linXiv in academia to not have to worry about the legal hairiness that comes with the GPL license.
  • Merge a backup into your library. Import another linXiv database without replacing yours: new papers, notes, and tags are added, and existing ones are left alone. Available in Settings, from the headless admin page, and as linxiv import <file>.
  • Zotero export. Export a project as Zotero CSL JSON from the export dialog, or via GET /api/projects/{id}/export/zotero.
  • Restore without closing everything. The app, headless node, and MCP server no longer hold the database open while idle, so restoring a backup isn't blocked by another running linXiv process.

Headless server

image
  • The admin page can now back up and import the database (merge or replace; the file is validated before your library is touched) and edit node settings.
  • The admin page shows whether each API key is set, without revealing it.
  • /api/status names the default relay set instead of just saying "default".
  • JSON responses are gzip-compressed when the client asks for it.
  • New docs: a Raspberry Pi runbook (SD card setup, swap, watchdog, relay), a Podman quadlet unit, and an update script. The Docker image builds faster and pins the arm64 PDFium build.

CLI and MCP

  • New CLI commands and MCP tools to match the app: linxiv versions (version monitor), linxiv feed (RSS home feed), and linxiv orcid backfill. New CI test to make sure CLI and MCP don't drift again.
  • MCP: citation handles (linxiv://paper/...) you can check later with the new resolve_refs tool, which reports each one as current, stale, or unknown. paper_ref creates a handle for a paper.
  • Breaking: the MCP tools hard_delete_paper and hard_delete_project, and the matching CLI commands, are removed because they skipped the trash. To delete permanently, use the trash commands with force (MCP), --force (CLI), or ?force=1 (API).

Project

  • linXiv is now licensed under Apache-2.0 (previously GPL-3.0), with the written consent of all contributors.
  • New CONTRIBUTING.md covering branches, commit messages, and releases, plus a pull request template and git hooks for contributors.
  • MCP server updated to rmcp 2.0.
