What’s new in 1.4.4
- Smoother rival audio: steadier engine sounds in groups, with more gradual volume changes as bikes approach and move away.
- More varied opponents: AI riders choose from the full bike pool for the selected level, independently of your bike choice.
- Thrash fixes: saved race unlocks are available at startup, with clearer route previews and corrected yellow map markers.
- MK64 racer guidance: improved cornering forecasts and recovery when an AI rider loses its route.
- Cleanup: organized source, quieter routine diagnostics and a shorter quick-start guide.
Downloads
Choose the Windows ZIP or experimental native Linux ZIP. Optional mods are separate downloads, installed through Settings → Mods:
- MoreCharacters2.0.5.nrm — additional rider skins.
- RoadRash64Recompiled-Optional-Texture-Mod.zip — Crisaty’s Remastered Edition texture conversion; extract its RTZ before installing.
Supply your own supported Road Rash 64 USA v1.0 ROM. MK64 importing also requires your own supported Mario Kart 64 USA ROM. Keep your saves and settings when updating.
MK64 tracks, items and online play remain experimental. Online players need matching 1.4.4 / protocol 68 builds and matching imported packs.
Draw Distance: 100% can load the entire map, including areas used by other races. 50–60% is a good starting point, especially in multiplayer.
