v0.33.5 – Pay from several accounts and default payment types

What's Changed

💳 One payment from several accounts

Some purchases come out of more than one account, like part on a card and the rest in cash. MoneyMatter can now record that as one payment across up to 5 accounts, in different currencies if needed. When you add an expense or income, tap Several accounts and add an account for each part. To join transactions you already have, such as two charges your bank synced, tap Link existing.

For a part in another currency, MoneyMatter fills in the amount at the market rate, and you can change it to what you paid. The transactions list marks the payment as "Paid from 3 accounts", or "Received into" for income. Deleting it removes every part and updates each account's balance. You can't split a payment from several accounts by category.

AI assistants connected to MoneyMatter can create and read these payments too.

🏷️ Default payment type for each account

You can give each account a default payment type, such as debit card for your current account or cash for your wallet. Set it when you create the account, or later on the account's details tab. New transactions on that account start with this type, including ones from bank sync and imports. Existing transactions keep the type they have.

🐛 Bug Fixes

  • Since v0.33.4, if you set a payday other than the 1st, the FIRE planner understated your yearly spending, and the savings check on your goals used the same wrong numbers. Both use calendar months again. With the payday on the 1st, you weren't affected.
  • With a payday other than the 1st, the dashboard's Cash Flow and Net Worth widgets showed calendar months in their trend bars and comparisons, and Spending Pace tracked the calendar month. All three follow your pay cycle now.
  • With Include credit limit in stats turned off, the Credit Utilization widget showed a manual credit card with a positive balance (one you overpaid) as almost fully used. It now shows nothing drawn on that card. Bank-connected cards weren't affected, and neither were manual cards with the setting on.
  • Credit cards with a limit, held in a currency other than your main one, could show the wrong amount in your main currency. After a transaction or a balance edit, MoneyMatter converted the balance at that day's exchange rate but kept the credit limit at an older one. It now converts both at the same rate. Cards in your main currency weren't affected.
  • When you created a budget, picking an earlier start date added past periods that stayed empty, because you can't add lines to past periods. You can still start on an earlier day, such as your last payday, as long as it's less than one reset ago. The budget then begins with the period that includes today. Budgets you already have keep their periods.
  • The option to hide scheduled payments from the Latest Transactions widget only showed up while you edited the dashboard, as an unlabeled On/Off. It now sits in the widget's settings menu as Scheduled payments.
