v0.32.0 – Reworked trackers & AI smart tracking

one hour ago

What's Changed

🎯 Trackers with lines and limits

MoneyMatter rebuilds Planned > Trackers. You can split a tracker into lines: each line groups a few categories and can have its own limit, and anything outside your lines shows as "Other spending". A tracker's page shows what you spent and what's left, your daily pace against the limit, and where you'll land at that pace. It also breaks your spending down by category, currency and payee.

The list sorts trackers into active, upcoming, ended and archived, with search and filters. You can duplicate a tracker in one click, and MoneyMatter offers to archive trackers that have ended.

🤖 Smart tracking

Turn on "Find matching transactions for me" on a manual tracker and describe what belongs in it, such as "Two weeks in Greece: flights, ferries, rental car, island hotels". Each night, AI checks your new and edited transactions against that description. It adds the ones it's sure about and puts the rest in a review list, where you add or skip them. Transactions you skip or remove stay out. Smart tracking needs a start date and can look up to 6 months before it, to catch early bookings.

Smart tracking comes with Plus and the account trial. On Essential and Early Adopter, you get a one-time 14-day free trial that starts when you first turn it on. If you connect your own AI model, smart tracking works on any plan. Self-hosted instances get every feature.

🖼️ Custom logos

You can give a tracker an icon with a color, or upload your own image. Accounts, account groups, payees and subscriptions get the same options.

📈 Included AI usage

AI features that run on MoneyMatter's included model share a monthly allowance, which resets on the 1st. Plus gets a larger allowance than the other plans. Settings > AI > AI Features shows how much you've used, and AI features show a badge once you pass 60%. When you use up the allowance, those features pause until the reset. Anything running on your own AI model doesn't count, and self-hosted instances have no allowance.

🔌 MCP

  • AI assistants connected through MCP can manage tracker lines and per-category limits.
  • Assistants can set a payee when they create or edit a transaction. Before, they dropped the payee without an error.

🐛 Bug Fixes

Thanks to @nnemirovsky for six of the fixes in this release.

  • Settings > Security > Active Sessions said "No active sessions found" once your current login was more than a day old. It lists your sessions again, and if loading fails you get an error with a Retry button.
  • On self-hosted instances opened through a local network or Docker address, Enable Banking connections failed with "Error interacting with ASPSP", and no bank accounts showed up to link after you authorized. MoneyMatter Cloud and instances on a public address worked fine. Thanks to @algedabra for the report.
  • With Enable Banking, the first transaction sync for SNS (Netherlands) failed because the bank refuses history older than two years. MoneyMatter asks for a shorter period instead. Balances and account details synced fine before. Thanks to @MrNiceguy2121 for the report.
  • When an AI statement import or AI investment import found no transactions in your file, you saw "An unexpected error occurred". You get a message saying the file had no transactions.
  • Login, sign-up, password, backup restore and import errors appeared in English when the app was set to another language. They follow your language.
  • On a server shared by people using different languages, one person could get error messages in another person's language if they used the app at the same moment. Servers where everyone uses one language never had this problem.
  • Adding a holding from search could overwrite a security's name, logo, price source or exchange for everyone who holds it. MoneyMatter keeps the details it already has for a security.
  • In the transaction dialog's Link refund > "Refunded by" tab, selected expenses showed a green, positive total. They show a negative expense total. Thanks to @algedabra for the report.
  • In Recurring payments > Discover candidates, the sample transactions list ignored your current access to shared accounts. Read-only viewers missed the owner's transactions, and after an owner stopped sharing an account, the former recipient still saw transactions they had added to it. The list follows your current access.
  • Building the frontend Docker image from source ran out of memory on servers with less than about 16 GB of RAM. It builds there now. The published Docker images were never affected.
