Playden for PS5 0.7.1-beta.3

pre-release2 hours ago

The third beta. The update offer and "What's new" no longer close by themselves when your library loads, and a Playden installed outside console storage now says how to fix it instead of stopping on a black screen. This beta is also ready for 0.8.0, when Playden moves to its ProsperoStore title; nothing moves yet. Same runtime kit as 0.7.0 (0.13). The kit is not attached here: Playden downloads it from 0.7.0 when it needs it, and playden-kit-0.13.zip there is the file for a manual kit install.

Warning

Beta of alpha software. Betas can have new bugs. Playden signs in to your real Steam account and reads and writes your Steam Cloud saves. Read Before you use it first.

Downloads

File What it is
playden-ps5-0.7.1-beta.3.zip The Playden app (FAKE77031), the console tools (tools/) and the license files.
playden-update.json Used by Playden to update itself and to find its kit. You don't need to download it.

Updating from 0.7.1-beta.1 or beta.2: Playden offers this beta at start, or from Settings › Updates › Check now. Only the app is downloaded; the kit stays.

Getting the beta from 0.7.0: turn on Settings › Updates › Beta updates. Playden checks again at once and offers 0.7.1-beta.3. Only the app is downloaded; the kit stays. Your sign-in, games, saves and Game settings are kept. If the offer closes before you can choose, it is still in Settings › Updates (this beta fixes that). You can turn Beta updates off again at any time: Playden keeps the beta until 0.7.1 or newer is out, then updates as usual.

Updating from 0.6.0: Playden offers only stable versions until you turn on Beta updates, so update to 0.7.0 first (see its notes), or install this beta by hand.

New install: copy the FAKE77031 folder to /data/homebrew/ (see the README). On its first start Playden offers to download the runtime kit.

Fixed

  • The update offer and "What's new" closed by themselves. Both often open at startup, before your games have loaded. When the library arrived, Playden closed every open dialog, so on many starts the offer or "What's new" vanished and only Settings › Updates showed the update. Now only the dialogs about a game close.

Changed

  • Installed outside console storage. Playden runs only from /data/homebrew/. A copy started from another folder or another drive stopped on a black screen. It now opens on "Install Playden on console storage", which names the folder and says what to do: move the app folder to /data/homebrew/, or, for an install from ProsperoStore, set its Settings › Install location to /data/homebrew, hold Uninstall on Playden's page and install it again.
  • Ready for the move to ProsperoStore. From 0.8.0, Playden's title becomes PPSA97031, the kind of ID ProsperoStore can install and update. This beta can make that move when 0.8.0 is out: it installs the new app next to this one, keeps your sign-in, games, saves and settings, opens the new app by itself, and removes the old tile once the new one has started. Nothing changes until 0.8.0.

Known issues

The same as in 0.7.0.
