Faster Steam downloads, simpler game settings and kit H r8, which lets games see the console's memory.

Alpha software. Playden signs in to your real Steam account and reads and writes your Steam Cloud saves. Read

Update both. Playden 0.2.0 accepts only kit H r8, and kit H r8 needs Playden 0.2.0. For a new install, follow the README.
Updating from 0.1.0
Unzip both files next to each other, then run the commands from the playden-ps5-0.2.0 folder:
-
Close Playden on the console.
-
Upload the new kit. It replaces kit H r6:
python3 tools/console_kit_upload.py ../playden-kit-h-r8/hl2-fw1360-dev1 --host <PS5 IP> --replace
-
Update the app. It copies only the changed files and keeps a backup of the files it replaced:
python3 tools/console_title_deploy.py --host <PS5 IP> deploy FAKE77031 --backup backups/0.1.0
-
Start Playden. Your sign-in, games, saves and Game settings are kept. Each game moves to the new kit the next time you press Play or Update runtime in Playden, which takes a few seconds. You do not need to recreate bottles. A game you start from the PS5 Home screen keeps running on its previous runtime until you update it in Playden.
The upload keeps the previous kit in a hidden .hl2-fw1360-dev1.retired-… folder in /data/playden/kits (about 1.1 GB), and deletes it at the next kit update. To free that space now, delete the folder over FTP.
What's new
Steam downloads improvements
- Downloads are faster. Playden now fetches several pieces of a game at once and reuses its connections to Steam. In our tests, downloads were several times faster.
- Downloads shows the download speed and the time left.
- If a game gets an update while its download is paused, the download starts again from the new version instead of mixing the two versions.
Game settings
- When you change Program or Program folder, Playden applies the change when you close Game settings or press Play, like any other setting. You no longer need Recreate bottle for this.
- The Program picker lists each program once and names it by its program, not by an internal ID.
- Reset on Program goes back to Steam's launch option, not to an earlier choice of yours.
- Bottles get the registry keys from the game's Steam install script, as Steam writes them on first start. Some games check for these keys.
Kit H r8
- Windows games now see the console's memory: about 12 GB of RAM and a page file of the same size. Before, they saw almost none. Games that check free memory before they start, such as Fallout: New Vegas, can now get past that check.
Runtime updates
- A game set up with an earlier kit shows Update runtime next to Play. It moves the game to the new runtime without starting it. Play still updates first, as before.
Other changes
- Playden no longer refuses the kit on firmware other than 13.60. We test only on 13.60, so other firmware versions are allowed but untested.
- On the on-screen keyboard, Options now acts as Done.
Fixed
- Half-Life 2 showed "No Windows version to install" after a recent Steam change (#10).
- Install showed an impossible size, such as 160 TB for FINAL FANTASY XIII (#5).
- One unusual license on the account could stop every install with "Could not read this account's licenses" (#1). Playden now skips that license.
What works
See the compatibility list. It now includes community test reports too (thanks @kernelpanicz and @DL21!). Also see the known issues. Test reports are welcome, including for games that work.
