webOS IPTV Player v1.17.0
✨ Features
- Parental controls — lock Live groups and channels, Xtream categories, and individual titles behind a 4-digit PIN. Locked content asks for the PIN before playback, and the optional Hide mode removes it from lists, Search, the Guide, Continue Watching, and reminders until the PIN unlocks the session. Repeated wrong PINs trigger an increasing lockout, and the app relocks when it moves to the background or switches accounts.
- Playback speed — play movies and episodes at 0.5x to 2x from the player menu. If a TV accepts a speed but keeps playing at normal speed, the player detects it, returns to 1x, and hides the option for that video.
- Xtream Live category filter — choose which Live categories to load for each Xtream account, significantly reducing load time and memory use on large accounts. New categories can be shown automatically or kept hidden and flagged for review.
- Sorting for Movies and Series — sort catalogs by name, date added, rating, or year in either direction. Each section remembers its own choice.
- Continue Watching and Watchlist management — remove individual titles, clear a whole list after confirmation, or clear a movie's progress from its details page.
- Complete catalog browsing — category rails with more than 20 titles now end in a See all tile that opens the full category, so every title is reachable from Movies and Series.
- Recent searches — the empty search box now lists the last 10 searches whose results were opened. Searches that opened parental-protected content are never saved.
- Magic Remote edge scrolling — rest the pointer near the edge of a horizontal rail, tab row, or Guide date strip to scroll it, accelerating the longer the pointer stays there.
- Polish and Turkish — the app is now available in 11 languages.
🚀 Performance & UX
- Faster startup and catalog loading — an expired playlist or Xtream catalog cache is shown immediately and refreshed in the background instead of blocking on a full download.
- Faster Search — build the search index in the background worker and keep it in storage, so Search usually opens in about 0.1 seconds instead of more than a second on large accounts. Search shows a preparing hint instead of "No results" while catalogs are still loading.
- More reliable Xtream Search catalogs — load movie and series catalogs category by category, avoiding oversized responses and keeping available results when individual categories fail.
- Much faster Parental Controls on large libraries — render only the visible rows, reducing opening times from several seconds to a fraction of a second.
- Consistent focus highlighting — only the screen area that currently responds to the remote shows a focus highlight, eliminating cases where two items appeared focused at once.
- Movies and Series keep their place — returning from a category grid or title details restores the previously focused title and rail scroll positions instead of rebuilding the page.
- Steadier pointer and D-pad interaction — a resting Magic Remote pointer no longer steals focus while lists scroll, and D-pad navigation resumes on a visible row after the pointer or a scroll moves the list.
- Smoother motion in Full animation mode — more lists, menus, and date strips scroll smoothly, while held navigation keys remain instant. Essential mode now also disables more focus transitions and the playing indicator pulse on older TVs.
- URL fields for playlists, Xtream accounts, and XMLTV sources now open the webOS URL keyboard layout.
- The Search tab now shows clear hover and focus states, and D-pad Up from Settings now reaches the tab bar without discarding unsaved edits.

🧰 Compatibility, Internal & Docs
- Detect webOS 4 / Chromium 53 engine limitations at startup instead of inferring them from CSS feature support, and stop relying on unsupported event-listener and focus options.
- Added a lint rule that rejects CSS rules mixing modern and legacy selectors, which Chromium 53 would discard entirely.
- Expanded legacy layout regression coverage for parental controls, catalog sorting, collection management, recent searches, and the category filter.
- Added
tv.sh inputfor sending remote keys, pointer events, and wake commands to test TVs, along with new diagnostics for engine quirks, catalog reloads, category filtering, and playback speed. - Documented unsupported features and limitations, and Dolby Vision profile 7 playback through its HDR10 base layer.
- Updated dependencies, including Vitest 5.
- Updated the English and Simplified Chinese documentation, feature descriptions, and screenshots.
