Bloodborne VR 0.1.0-alpha11 (early alpha, pre-release)

Full per-eye true stereo is now the default, with a new launcher and a lot less CPU cost.

Unofficial VR port of YOUR OWN Bloodborne 1.09 (CUSA03173) dump on Windows (Vulkan + OpenXR). No game files are included. You need a SteamVR/OpenXR headset runtime and a legally obtained, decrypted dump.

EARLY ALPHA. Single-player is the supported mode; co-op is experimental. Expect bugs and comfort issues.

What's new since alpha10

  • Full per-eye true stereo is now the default for all presets. Each eye gets its own rendered view. Mono is the fallback if stereo cannot be used.
  • New launcher layout: a sidebar, a PLAY bar, VR / Co-op / Flat modes, VR quality presets (Low / Medium / High / Super High) and a Display size setting per headset.
  • Super High adds NVIDIA DLSS-NR (denoise, run before upscaling), about 50-54 fps on an RTX 4090. It needs your own nvngx_dlssnr.dll, which is NOT included in this release. Open "What is this?" in the launcher for details.
  • Large CPU cut in stereo: the command thread went from about 13 to about 7 ms per frame.
  • Crash fixes: the "Unimplemented PM4 type" crash during loading is fixed; closing the game now exits cleanly instead of reporting device lost; exit tracing added for diagnosing the rest.
  • First-person / VR combat:
    • Evade distance is 1.5x (off online).
    • Evading backward becomes a backstep, 2x distance.
    • Gun shot animation is 2x speed (stays on online).
    • Arms stay steady during rolls.
    • Wrist HP and stamina bars (green).
    • The centre HUD screen is shown only in menus.
    • Camera hook and lag fixes.
  • Shader-cache fix for the white or dark screen.

Still in this release (alpha6 to alpha10)

  • alpha10: the item wheel opens after a short hold of the right stick click (0.15 s).
  • alpha9: bare hands only by default (no arms or armour sleeves in view); the item wheel is on by default.
  • Play online uses the default lobby that comes with the release: press Play online, then Host a game or Join a friend with a room code. Nothing to type. The dashboard shows "Lobby: default"; Change next to it lets you use your own lobby.
  • alpha8: co-op logs the game in to the server (each install gets its own password automatically).
  • Controls rework (B rolls, A/X swap weapons, Y interacts; item wheel on the right stick click, right trigger picks), held items from the game's own meshes, bigger mouth and paper zones, hard-squeeze crush for hunter's marks.
  • Throws with an aim arc and impact ring (hold the grip, release to throw).
  • Co-op with join codes (up to 3 players) and automatic bells; room code in the dashboard.

Known issues

  • A brief 2D screen can show after loading.
  • Full stereo with Super High is GPU-heavy. Pick a lower preset if you drop frames.
  • Stagger speed is off by default.
  • Items may not show in the hand in every situation.
  • Internet co-op is not fully tested; summons may fail. Host must not stand in an entry zone and the area's boss must be alive. If you see "failed to acquire server information" restart the game.
  • Door state can differ between host and guest.
  • Phantom (summoned player) render corruption can appear.
  • The exe and Setup.exe are not code-signed: Windows SmartScreen warns, click "More info", then "Run anyway".
  • Comfort and tracking issues are expected in this alpha.

Install

Setup.exe (recommended): run BloodborneVR-0.1.0-alpha11-Setup.exe (SmartScreen: More info, Run anyway), then Start menu, Bloodborne VR, choose your game folder, START VR. Installs per user, no admin rights; uninstalling keeps your saves and settings. Upgrading: run the new Setup.exe over the old one.

Portable zip: extract BloodborneVR-0.1.0-alpha11.zip somewhere with write access and double-click BloodborneVR.exe. To update, extract over or next to the old folder and keep your user\ folder.

Start your headset's OpenXR runtime first. The zip's README.txt has details and how to report bugs. DLSS (RTX GPUs) is included; other GPUs use FSR 1.
