Forel v1.1.0
Added
- Right-clicking a watched folder in the sidebar now offers Show in Finder.
- Activity can now be opened from the bottom of the sidebar, next to Settings.
- When Run Now has failed actions, its result now stays on screen with a Show in Activity link to see what went wrong.
- Automatic rules now notify you once when a disk or network share they move or copy to isn't connected, and run again on the waiting files as soon as it's back.
- Added a getting-started example for lowercasing filenames and replacing spaces with underscores, with guidance on how scripts receive files.
- The menu bar quick panel now shows recent activity across all folders, showing the 10 latest actions first and loading more as you scroll.
Changed
- Forel now comes in Free and Pro. Details in this discussion.
- Forel now requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
- The menu bar quick panel no longer shows the Last 30 Days success and failure counters, and its folder, rule, and history counts now appear in a simpler Overview row.
- The menu bar quick panel now counts the rules of all folders instead of only the folder selected in the main window.
- Settings → About now shows the version, build, copyright, and repository link, matching the About Forel window.
Fixed
- The menu bar icon now appears when Forel starts at login, without having to reopen the app.
- Turning off Automatic updates in Settings now works: the switch used to stay on, and clicking it again turned the setting back on.
- Run Now no longer reports failed actions as applied: its result now counts applied, failed, skipped, and pending actions separately.
- Dry Run now warns when a Move or Copy destination can't be reached or written to, such as a disconnected disk or network share.
- Folders on a network share chosen through Network in the folder picker no longer stop working later.
- When a Move or Copy fails because a disk or network share isn't connected, Activity and Dry Run now name it.
- Rules with a Size condition no longer crash when the entered size is an extremely large number.
- Rules no longer move or change macOS system files such as a folder's custom icon file, so folders keep their custom icons. iCloud placeholders, volume system folders, and Windows
Thumbs.db/desktop.inifiles are ignored too. - Automatic rules now wait until an arriving file or folder has finished being written before acting on it, so AirDrop transfers, Finder copies, and other in-progress files are no longer moved while incomplete or left behind as empty duplicates. Pausing automatic watching during a transfer also keeps rules from running when it completes. Files still being copied by Finder are also skipped by Dry Run and Run Now.
- Files downloaded with Firefox are no longer moved before the download finishes, which left an empty file at the destination and the real download renamed with " (1)".
