Bug Fixes

#10; Soulseek login test always failing on Windows/macOS

The login test in Settings determined success by waiting for search results to arrive over an inbound listen port; which is blocked by the default Windows and macOS firewall. Since Soulseek authentication itself is outbound-only (explaining why Nicotine+ worked fine), the test was incorrectly reporting ✗ No results; check credentials or network for valid credentials.

Fix: login is now validated via the -v verbose flag, which prints Logged in <user> over the outbound connection; fully firewall-independent.

#8; Downloads not working when Soulseek is enabled

Soulseek is a P2P download source, not a metadata catalogue. The app was resolving track metadata (artist, title, ISRC) exclusively through the Tidal proxy; when Tidal was unavailable, the Fetch button was disabled entirely and Soulseek was never reached.

Fix: the Universal (Deezer) tab in the Search page now provides a fully Tidal-independent download path. It fetches metadata from the public Deezer API and routes directly to the download orchestrator, which searches Soulseek by title and artist. The ISRC requirement has been removed; title + artist alone are sufficient. A hint now guides users to this tab when their detected source is unavailable.

Improvements

  • Increased --search-timeout to 12 s in sldl invocations to accommodate slower indirect (server-mediated) peer connections on firewalled clients
  • Added startup log when Soulseek is enabled but fails to initialise, with a specific reason (binary not found / missing credentials)
  • Added a firewall note in Settings: Windows/macOS: allow sldl through your firewall for reliable downloads
  • Bumped flacidal-core to v0.10.4
