This is the big one. dayGLANCE is now on the iOS and Mac App Stores, joining Android, the web app, and self-hosting. One purchase covers every Apple device you own, your data syncs itself over iCloud, and the app plugs into the parts of iPhone, iPad, and Mac you actually use every day: widgets, Spotlight, quick actions, and Control Center.

This release also brings two entirely new ways to work with your plans — SCHED, a scrolling agenda view of your schedule, and PLANNER, a planning dashboard for every project — plus project colors throughout Goals & Projects, faster and more dependable sync, the new Areas and Goals Roadmap planning tools, a modern desktop app rebuilt on Electron 43, and Folder Backup: continuous, local-only backup for the web app that survives even the strictest corporate browser policies.

🍎 New: dayGLANCE for iPhone, iPad, and Mac

The Apple apps ship the full dayGLANCE experience natively on each device, with the platform integrations that only make sense on Apple hardware.

• Universal Purchase. Buy once and run dayGLANCE on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. No separate purchase per device.
• Free for 14 days. New users get a 14-day free trial, then it's $19.99/year or a one-time $79.99 lifetime unlock.
• iCloud sync with no setup. Your tasks, habits, and plans stay up to date between your Mac and iPhone automatically. Nothing to configure, and your health data stays off iCloud.
• Home Screen widgets. Glanceable widgets for your day on iPhone and iPad, plus iOS 18 Control Center controls for adding a task or starting voice input without opening the app.
• Spotlight search. Your tasks are indexed in Spotlight, so you can search from anywhere on the device and jump straight into dayGLANCE.
• Quick actions. Long-press the app icon to create a scheduled or inbox task, start a focus session, or queue voice input.
• Your Apple Calendar, natively. The apps read your device calendars directly through EventKit, so every calendar on your iPhone or Mac surfaces color-coded on the timeline. iCal and CalDAV subscriptions work too.
• Obsidian vault support. Connect a local Obsidian vault to sync your daily notes and tasks directly.
• Menu-bar tray mode on Mac. Keep dayGLANCE one click away in the menu bar, with a live focus countdown right in the tray.

💚 The free builds stay free

Nothing changes for existing users. The direct-download desktop app, the GitHub Android APK, the web app, and Docker self-hosting all remain free, exactly as before. The App Store and Play Store versions are the easiest way to install, stay updated, and support dayGLANCE's development.

🗓️ New: SCHED — your schedule as one scrolling agenda

A brand-new view that answers "what's coming up?" at a glance: every scheduled task and event, grouped by day, in one scrolling list that starts wherever you are and rolls forward as far as you need.

• On every device. On phones and tablets, SCHED joins GRID and LIST in the view toggle. On desktop — and iPad in landscape — it joins MULTI, DAY, and WEEK in the view switcher, with a floating filter rail beside the agenda. Number keys 1–4 jump between views and C cycles them.
• Filter it your way — and save it. Filter the agenda by color, tag, or project (grouped by goal). Save any combination as a named preset and reapply it with one tap.
• Overdue, front and center. Incomplete tasks from past days collect in an amber Overdue group, each with a one-tap button that reschedules it into today's next open slot. Everything else that's slipped gets a postpone button.
• Recurring tasks without the flood. A "Next only" option collapses each recurring series to its next occurrence, so a daily habit doesn't fill fourteen days of agenda.
• Deadlines and routines, included. Deadline tasks appear on their deadline day as dashed-border cards — tap one, pick a time, and it's on the schedule. Today's routines show as their familiar teal pills: tap to mark one complete, press and hold to give it a time.
• Your agenda, your defaults. Show or hide empty days (with inline add-task buttons when shown), extend the window two weeks at a time, and pick a default view per device in Settings — phone, tablet portrait, tablet landscape, and desktop each remember their own. The header view toggle is session-only now, so browsing another view never silently changes your default.

📋 New: PLANNER — a dashboard for every project

Every project card gains a PLANNER button that opens a planning dashboard themed to the project's color — a bottom sheet on your phone, a centered workspace on desktop.

• Project notes, front and center. Rich-formatted notes (bold, italics, links) with live preview, autosaved as you go.
• Scheduled and Unscheduled, side by side. Two task columns — tabbed on mobile, side-by-side on desktop. The scheduled column groups by day; the unscheduled column supports drag-to-reorder, a quick-add that inherits the project's color and people, and a one-tap button that schedules any task into your next open slot.
• hyperGLANCE lives here now. The project's hyperGLANCE settings moved from the edit form into the planner, leaving the New/Edit Project form a quick, focused identity editor.

🎨 Project colors

Goals & Projects gets a full color system.

• Projects have their own color, inherited sensibly at creation: areas pass their color to new goals, goals to new projects, and projects to new tasks — including quick-adds and hyperGLANCE sessions. Inherited at creation means changing a parent's color later never repaints your existing work.
• Standalone projects join the party. Cards for projects outside any goal now carry their color, and get a new show/hide toggle that tucks away task counts, progress bars, and completed tasks for a calmer card.
• Stalled flags, on your terms. A per-goal "Hide Stalled flags" option quiets the Stalled badge for slow-burn goals where a lull is by design.

🗂️ New: Folder Backup for the web app

Using dayGLANCE in a browser on a machine you don't control, where IT policy wipes browser data on close or forbids cloud sync? This one's for you. Folder Backup (Chrome and Edge, including the installed PWA) continuously mirrors your data to a folder on your computer. Nothing ever leaves the machine.

• A live copy, always current. dayglance-data.json in your chosen folder is updated within seconds of every change, alongside periodic snapshots (hourly, daily, or weekly) that are pruned automatically.
• Restore from the welcome screen. If dayGLANCE ever opens empty (a wiped browser profile, a new machine), the welcome screen offers "Restore from a backup." One dialog picks your folder, restores everything, and re-arms continuous backup. Browsers without folder access get a plain backup-file picker instead, also available on mobile.
• Safety first. dayGLANCE will never overwrite a backup that contains data with an empty app state, and connecting a folder that already holds a backup asks whether to restore it or replace it.
• A restore really brings back everything. Folder backups carry your per-device settings too — view defaults, weather, daily content, filter presets — plus daily notes, frames, and focus history. After a wiped profile, one restore puts the app back exactly as you left it, no re-toggling.

☁️ GLANCEvault sync, now in real time (Beta)

GLANCEvault is our optional, app-owned database sync that runs alongside WebDAV and never touches your WebDAV data. In v4.0.0 it gets a real-time push channel: when something changes on one device, your others pick it up almost immediately instead of waiting for the next sync. It syncs only the records that changed, and it now runs natively on Android, iOS, and the desktop app.

GLANCEvault is still in beta and requires a self-hosted GLANCEvault server, so it stays off by default. If you do not use it, nothing here changes for you.

🎯 Areas and the Goals Roadmap

Higher-level planning for your goals and projects.

• Areas. Group your goals into categories like "Money/Finance" or "App Development." Choose an area when you create or edit a goal, filter the Goals dashboard by area, and manage areas from the Manage Areas screen.
• Goals Roadmap. A timeline view of your goals. Each goal is a colored bar from its start date to its target date with a fuel-gauge fill for completion, days remaining, and child-project count. Goals are grouped by area, and you can zoom the window from one month out to two years.
• Goal detail panel. Click a bar to focus a goal. The rest dim, and a panel opens with Edit Goal and Add Project actions plus every project and task underneath, with drag-to-reorder.

🔄 Sync you can trust

We spent this cycle hunting down the edge cases where items could reappear after you deleted them, or drift out of step between devices. The result is quieter, steadier sync across the board.

• Deleted stays deleted. Tasks, routines, and notes no longer come back to life after a delete, including across Obsidian and multi-device setups.
• Yesterday stays yesterday. Routines you completed no longer resurrect onto today's timeline after the midnight rollover.
• Less busywork on the wire. GLANCEvault no longer re-syncs unchanged records on fresh devices or churns over completed tasks that aged past your retention window.
• Obsidian sync is steadier. Daily-note timestamps are stable, imports respect their own window, and note-backed tasks stop flickering during a sync.
• Habit and routine counts reconcile cleanly instead of getting stuck out of step between devices.
• Outlook events land at the right hour. Imported calendar events created in another time zone (the way Outlook and Exchange export them) now convert to your local time correctly, with Windows time-zone names understood and daylight saving honored per event.
• Completed stays completed for connected apps. Tasks created by other GLANCE apps over GLANCEintents can no longer reappear as incomplete after you finish them — re-delivered create events (a reinstalled device, an old event file) are now recognized and ignored.

🖥️ Desktop, rebuilt on Electron 43

The desktop app now runs on the Electron 43 runtime, up from 31. Along with the newer engine come security hardening for the Mac App Store, a more reliable tray, and a storage migration that carries your existing data across cleanly.

• Heads-up for sync users: after your first launch on 4.0.0, the app may ask for your sync passphrase once. That's the storage migration re-deriving your encryption keys; enter it and you're set.

✨ Polish and platform work

• Refreshed onboarding, a new text wordmark, native splash screen, and a branded social card.
• dayGLANCE now speaks six languages end to end, including every cloud-sync setting: English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese.
• Frame "Manually Schedule" got smarter: it respects multi-user task visibility, applies your inbox filters, and adds a tag-affinity toggle.
• Purchase failures on iPhone, iPad, and Mac now show accurate error messages: network problems, region restrictions, and already-owned products each get a specific explanation instead of a generic "something went wrong."
• Multi-User can now only be enabled once cloud sync is configured, so there's no confusing half-set-up state.
• The daily quote is now built into the app instead of fetched from a third-party service, so it loads instantly and works offline.
• Calendar events imported from an .ics file can now be removed in one tap: a "Remove file-imported events" button appears under the import controls whenever you have any.
• The Help modal gained a Legal section with the privacy policy and EULA.
• Security hardening across the board: locked-down WebView navigation on Android, an authenticated local WebSocket API on desktop, hardened hosted proxies, and a clean sweep of dependency advisories.
• Automation intents (Tasker, etc.) are now behind an opt-in toggle in settings.
• GLANCEintents over iCloud is opt-in too: every intents transport (WebDAV, GLANCEvault, and iCloud) now stays fully inert until you explicitly enable it, so the app never reads or writes your iCloud container on its own.
