Now requires macOS 13 or later
Sokuji now runs on Electron 44 (Chromium 152), which needs macOS 13 Ventura or later. On macOS 12 Monterey, v0.42.1 keeps working, and the in-app updater does not offer this version.
New
- Pick Gemini, OpenAI Realtime and OpenAI Live voices in the voice library, with a preview for every voice (#591). OpenAI previews play OpenAI's own voice samples. Gemini previews are spoken by Gemini on your saved API key: free on the free tier, a fraction of a cent per preview on a paid key. A preview is cached for the session, so listening again costs nothing.
- Voice details where the vendor documents them: Gemini voices show gender and style. In OpenAI Live, the ten Realtime voices are listed under "Same as Realtime" and the twelve new ones under "Added in GPT-Live", with their gender and accent.
Improvements
- Security updates: Electron 40 → 44 and updated dependencies, closing the published Electron and dependency advisories (#590, #592).
- Windows: if another program has left a stray AppContainer permission entry on your user folders, Sokuji now gives its own install folder the access the Chromium sandbox needs when it installs or updates. Before, the app crashed at startup and had to restart without the sandbox (#352, #592).
