First launch is a setup wizard now, not a question about our UI (#444)
- Six steps that ask what you want to do, not how you want the app configured. Pick a scenario — understand what others say, be understood in a meeting, subtitle your own speech, two-way with voice, two-way with subtitles only — and the mode, text-only setting, and display modes follow from it.
- Three ways to get a provider, each with its cost stated up front. Start right away with Kizuna AI (sign up with an email address and verify it; verified accounts get a trial credit, then you top up and pay by usage), bring your own API key (it stays on your device, the app calls the provider directly, and you pay them), or run free and offline (gigabytes of models, a GPU strongly preferred).
- Nothing is written until you press Finish, and every step goes back. You can finish without a key or an account — Start stays locked until you add one, and it says so on hover.
- A guided tour built out of your answers. It shows the parts of the app your setup actually uses: a subtitles-only user never sees the speaker-routing step, an offline user gets the model step instead of the API-key step.
- Re-runnable any time from Settings → Help → Run setup again, with your saved key already filled in.
- Existing installs are unaffected — your setup is recognised and neither the wizard nor the tour appears.
- The provider list in Settings now marks the provider we recommend.
- All of it is translated in every one of the 30 interface languages.
Your account lives in the title bar (#437, #439)
- An account button with your balance, and a popover for signing in, topping up, and signing out. The account section is gone from Settings.
- A status dot when your balance runs low or your e-mail is not verified yet.
- Signing in happens over the app instead of replacing it, so an in-progress session survives it.
Clearer language settings (#440, #443)
- The language pair reads as a sentence — I speak English → they hear Japanese — for every provider, and in Both mode it states the reverse direction too.
- Interface language moved into Help, at the weight of a link, next to the version and the update check.
Fixes
- The Start button's explanation now sends you somewhere useful. Signing in is offered where you can actually sign in, and a blocked provider is no longer told to add an OpenAI key regardless of which provider it is.
- Balance no longer flashes a number before one is known, and it is cleared on sign-out without reloading the app.
- The interface-language picker is sized to the language you chose rather than the longest name in the list, and switching quickly can no longer land you in a language you did not pick last.
- Session expiry now says what happened instead of failing silently.
- German password-reset copy addresses the user formally, like the rest of the app.
